Back to School Reminders | 2019-20August 8, 2019
Below are important reminders as we get closer to the first day of school. For elementary families, don’t forget that Blue Wave Preview is tomorrow, Friday, August 9 (11-12 for Kindergarten, and 12-1 for 1st – 5th grade).
The new school year is always an exciting and busy time. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we all adjust to new schedules and work on establishing routines after a long summer break.
Our check-in system for visitors to campus has been updated this year. Beginning Monday, August 12, ALL visitors to campus must come to the Front Office to have their licenses scanned for the 2019-20 school year. None of our old records have been retained. Note: Please avoid coming to have your license scanned between the hours of 8:00-8:30 and 2:00-3:00pm
Traffic | Details
The start of the school year is always busy and everyone is trying to remember routines and traffic patterns from last year. Please visit the Drop-off, Pick-up, Traffic page on our website to be reminded of the traffic patterns.

Middle School students must attend Blue Wave Afterschool programs or be picked up by 2:45pm (2:10 Wed). Campus closes at 4:00pm.
Important Policy Updates | Policies and Publications
Cell Phones (wireless communication devices – WCDs) – We have updated our cell phone policy this year. Cell phones are to be stowed in backpacks/bags during class time and instructional activities. Policies and Publications / Technology – Acceptable Use
Dress Code will be more rigorously enforced this year. Students who are not in compliance with the dress code will be given an opportunity to alter their clothing. If the student is unable to make alterations that comply with the dress code, a family member will be contacted to come and pick the student up from school. Policies and Publications / Code of Student Conduct
Attendance updates include changes to our tardy policy. For elementary students, missing more than 50% of a school day will be recorded as an absence. For high school students, missing more than 50% of a class period will constitute an absence from that class. Policies and Publications / Attendance
Secondary Building Update
This week, the UF Board of Trustees subcommittee approved our request to begin preparing the construction site for our new 6-12 building. Dr. Hayes will be delivering a formal proposal to the UF Board of Trustees in early September seeking approval for construction to begin. We are excited to start preparing the site and grateful for all the support we have received.
Come out and support the Blue Wave on Friday, August 16 at 7pm for the Preseason Football Kick-Off Classic Game vs. Palatka!
