Back to School Bulletin 2 | 2019-20

We have less than a week to go before the first day of school and we are excited to welcome you all back to campus!

Below is our second Back to School Bulletin that shares information for all students as well as division-specific information. Please be sure to read all the information pertinent to you and your children.

PLEASE NOTE: Our school check-in system has changed and anyone wishing to visit campus will need to have their drivers’ license newly scanned this year (see below for details).

All Students and Families


Supervision | 7:30am – 2:45pm (M, T, Th, F)  | 7:30am-2:10pm (Wed). Secondary students must leave campus 30 minutes after dismissal unless involved in clubs, rehearsals, practices, or in after-school options (for Middle School: Blue Wave Afterschool/Study Hall, for High School Study Hall in the Cafeteria until 4pm). Elementary students must be picked up 15 minutes after dismissal unless enrolled in Blue Wave Afterschool. Campus closes at 4:00pm.

Updated Check-in System | IMPORTANT
We have a new school check-in system. Records from the old system were not transferred. Anyone wishing to visit campus for any reason must have their driver’s license newly scanned at the Front Office. Families are advised to avoid the hours of 8 – 8:30am and 2 – 3:00pm.

Skyward – Family/Emergency Contact Information | Skyward
Keeping Skyward family/emergency contact information current is important! We use this information to communicate with families throughout the year. Beginning August 12, families are asked to log in to Skyward to make sure all family/emergency information is current and accurate. Need help with your Skyward login or password? Contact: Data Entry Office (x 285) | Front Office (x 221). Skyward family access will be open August 9 after 4:00pm.

REMINDER – Drop-off, Pick-up, Parking, Traffic | Details
All north campus traffic enters through the MAIN GATE (near the PAC). Secondary students enter through the SW 16th Avenue gate.

Elementary School


Elementary – Getting Started | Details

Blue Wave Preview | Friday, August 9, 2019 | P.K. Yonge Elementary Building
Join us for the Annual Blue Wave Preview Event! Students and families are invited to come to school to visit learning communities, meet teachers, and get to know each other. Kindergarten: 11:00am-12:00pm | 1st Grade – 5th Grade: 12:00-1:00pm

Kindergarten Staggered Start
Kindergarten will have a staggered start beginning the first two days of school, Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13. If you have not received your notification in the mail, please email Jill Ozog – jozog@pky.ufl.edu

BooHoo Breakfast | Wednesday, August 14 | Elementary DaVinci Studio | 8:15am
We celebrate the giant step that our new Kindergarten students are taking and provide tissues to parents who may be tearful as they bid farewell to the pre-school phase of their children’s lives!

 

Secondary School

Chromebook Distribution
Chromebooks will be distributed through classes during the first two weeks of school.

Virtual School | School Counseling
Students choosing to take online courses must complete and return a Virtual Instruction Agreement before the class is activated. Please contact your school counselor for more information.

FHSAA Physical + Parent Consent Forms
Pick up forms from the Front Office. Students must have a completed FHSAA Physical + Parent Consent form in order to try out for and participate in sports. These forms are not available online.

Lockers
In the interest of school safety, there are no lockers on campus this year. There is no need for families to purchase combination locks for school lockers.

 

Middle School


6th and 7th Grade North Campus | Core classes for 6th and 7th grades are in H and I Wing, north of the elementary building. 6th and 7th graders with elementary siblings may be dropped off in the front circle, but must wait in the cafeteria area for school to start. All other 6th and 7th graders must be dropped off in front of the Gym.

Middle School Study Hall | Provided by Blue Wave Afterschool |  Details
Blue Wave Afterschool, an independent operator on the P.K. Yonge campus, offers a Study Hall for Middle School students. There will be no school-sponsored after school care for Middle School students.

7th Grade Vaccinations | Details
The law requires 7th grade students to have a Tdap vaccination before their first day of 7th grade. Students without required documentation will not be permitted to attend school.

 

High School 


Student Parking Permit | Details

Study Hall | Monday – Friday until 4:00pm, East Side of Cafeteria
