Social Media @P.K. Yonge
At P.K. Yonge, social media is used to communicate with a variety of audiences and to extend the institutions mission as a developmental research school. Tools used include Twitter (broader education community) and Facebook (families, alumni).
When using social media P.K. Yonge faculty are expected to use judgement based on Principles of Professional Conduct for the Education Profession in Florida (Code of Ethics) and the University of Florida’s Social Media Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Sexual Harassment Policy and adhere to the related guidelines. School-specific accounts (athletic teams, clubs, etc.) are also expected to adhere to guidelines outlined in the documents above.
With regard to the use of Twitter, faculty accounts are often followed and retweeted based on the guidelines described in P.K. Yonge’s Twitter: Goals, Policy, and Recommendations. This document is shared with faculty members at the beginning of each school year.
