New-to-PK Middle School | 2021-22 Update
April 30, 2021New-to-P.K. Yonge Middle School Families — We’re just about to welcome the month of May and wanted to follow up with new-to-P.K. families.
We mentioned earlier that we would be connecting with families at the beginning of May. For 6th and 7th grade students, no further action is required. For 8th grade families, Ms. Schmidt, our middle school counselor, will begin communicating with you in early May to start making plans for new-to-P.K. Yonge students for the 2021-22 school year.
Reminders
Incoming 6th and 7th grade students will be automatically registered for classes for the new school year and don’t need to take any further action. Families of students who are interested in band, performing arts, or FIRST® LEGO® League are encouraged to complete the Middle School Interest Survey. Families need to take no further action.
Incoming 8th grade students will automatically be registered for English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science classes for the new school year. When Ms. Schmidt begins reaching out to families in the first week of May, she will be gathering the top 1-8 elective class rankings of new-to-P.K 8th grade students. Be on the lookout for an email from Ms. Schmidt.
All families are encouraged to familiarize themselves with classes and additional information by reviewing the Middle School Course Guide. The Course Guide, the Interest Survey and other information to help new-to-P.K. Yonge students and families can be found on the Middle School Getting Started page. We recommend that families bookmark the Middle School Getting Started page as information will continue to be updated as we head into summer and approach the new school year.
