Senior Research Project Winners

Mr. Hasan would like to congratulate all the seniors who successfully completed their senior research project last semester. There were three students who did exceptionally well on their senior research project and earned a $100 award. 

Here are the student names and project titles of the award winners:

  • Samuel Ruszczyk -Impact of Climate Change Media on Student Mental Health 
  • Kristen Cooper -African American Historical Preservation in North Central Florida 
  • Brooke Gleichowski- Impact of Name, Image, and Likeness on College Athletics

Summer Research Program

Attention Junior and Seniors: 

Are you interested in a summer internship program?  The National Institute of Aging is offering an Intramural Research Program. 

The Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research offers a unique opportunity for high school, college and graduate and medical students to develop skills in scientific research. The application period for Summer 2024 is Open. Application Deadline for Summer 2024 is February 16, 2024 at 12 Noon Eastern Standard Time.

DECA

Club DECA meets tomorrow during lunch first floor blue room 112. All are invited to the start of a great club experience! See you there! DECA

Thespians

Thespian Club will meet for a club photo on Thursday Feb. 1st during HS lunch in Hemmerich’s Room.

Those going to STATE will stay after for a meeting.

Tri-M

Tri-M is the national honor society for music students.  There will be an interest meeting for any high school student interested.  Tri-M members must be enrolled in a music class and have a 3.0 GPA in their general classes and a 4.0 in their music classes.

Tri-M is a service organization and will help support the performing arts program through service and leadership and well as musical performance. If you want to find out more, come to our Tri- M interest meeting during HS lunch on Friday 1/26 in the PAC.

Peer Tutors

Attention high school students: If you are a PK Peer Tutor, or if you are interested in becoming a tutor, please attend a meeting during lunch on Wednesday, January 24th, in Ms. Roach’s room, Blue 312. 

Senior Reminders

Seniors – don’t forget to check your senior canvas course for important upcoming dates and information. Here are a few updates and reminders to get your semester started. 

  • January 29 – The Senior Class and P.K. “Lifer” pictures.  NO RETAKES. Top field (past the football field) at 12:45. The “Lifer” picture will be taken after the field picture. They will be included in the yearbook.
  • January 29 – Cap and Gown Pictures.  NO RETAKES. Pictures taken at PK in the library commons area of the secondary building between 8 and noon. Check Canvas for your assigned time. 
  • February 1 – Senior Ads Due for Yearbook. 
  • February 29 – Last Chance for Yearbook Sales. PRE-SALE ONLY. There will be no extra yearbooks for sale in May.

College & Career Fair 

Sophomores and Juniors – You are invited to a College & Career Fair in Starke on February 8. The fair will have colleges, technical institutes, apprenticeship programs, businesses, employers, branches of military, first responders, and much more! We will be taking a charter bus to attend this field trip. If interested, please see counselors or Mrs. V in the front office for a permission slip. 

Senior Yearbook Ads

Seniors! It’s time to buy your senior ads, seniors will have an opportunity to buy a quarter page, a half page, or a full page ad in the yearbook. The last day to purchase senior ads will be February first. The information to purchase ads have been sent out to parents’ emails and they are located in your senior canvas page. 

BSU

Attention BSU members.  Our second annual college tour to Atlanta is scheduled for April 17-19.  There are limited spaces available; 20 students who turn in the first $25 installment along with their permission slip will reserve their spot on the trip.  Pick up a packet of information from the front office or ask a BSU officer for more information.  Permission slips are due along with the first installment on 1/26.  The total of the trip is $100.
