Student: Ernest Davis Receives Trumpet Award

Congratulations to P.K. Yonge 7th Grader Ernest Davis on receiving the Charles Dean Memorial Trumpet from the Gainesville Community Band!

Dr. Charles Dean, chairman of the University of Florida Agronomy Department from 1979-1992, was an accomplished trumpet player, a lover of music, and a firm believer in practicing! A charter member of the Gainesville Community Band, Dr. Dean served as president from 1976-1978.

The award of the Charles Dean Memorial Trumpet, hopes to promote enjoyment of music and trumpet playing by providing a quality instrument on which students can practice and perform.
