P.K. Yonge Ranks as Top High School in North Central Florida

The research school jumped 27 spots according to U.S. News & World Report

 GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report 2023-24 Best U.S. High School Rankings as the top high school in north central Florida and the 38th ranked out of 1,130 Florida high schools. This is the top 3% of Florida high schools. P.K. Yonge is ranked 573rd nationally, or at the 97th percentile of 17,680 high schools in the U.S.

U.S. News & World Report ranks high schools using a methodology that includes college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rate.

“P.K. Yonge’s exceptional ranking is an affirmation of the hard work, commitment, and focus of our students, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Brian K. Marchman, P.K. Yonge director and superintendent. “We are proud of the collective efforts of our school community in preparing our students for success in both college and career.”

Notably, P.K. Yonge graduates have more opportunity and options for postsecondary education as the College Readiness Index nearly doubled from the prior rankings.

“Our students continue to rise to the high expectations we set for them,” added Dr. Carrie Geiger, P.K. Yonge secondary principal. “I am grateful for the dedication of our faculty, staff, and administrators who consistently seek ways to improve outcomes for all learners.”
