UF Next Steps and P.K. Yonge

May 1, 2020

Some of you may be aware that the University of Florida shared preliminary information today regarding the gradual reopening of the UF campus and the return of faculty and staff. This transition will be carefully monitored by UF Health. Information regarding any impact on the P.K. Yonge campus and community will be shared as it becomes available.

As part of the University of Florida and a K-12 school, P.K. Yonge takes guidance from the University of Florida AND the Florida Department of Education.

The gradual reopening of the UF campus will not impact the completion of the P.K. Yonge 2019-20 school year for students and families. Based on the Governor’s announcement on April 18, our school year will be completed through Virtually P.K.

Access to the P.K. Yonge campus for students and families remains unchanged. Students and families may access campus by appointment or by invitation. (Campus Access).

In alignment with the University of Florida, activities at P.K. Yonge throughout the summer will be virtual or online, and facilities are not available for large events. Future availability of P.K. Yonge/UF facilities remains unknown, as does the ability to bring together large groups of people in any location.

For public K-12 schools in Florida, guidance is not yet available for the 2020-21 school year return to campus. At present, there is no information to suggest that there is any change to the K-12 school year start date of August 10, 2020. Updates will be provided as information becomes available or if changes are announced.

We are grateful for your support and for the sense of community we feel from our Blue Wave family as we come together in our separate locations!
