Announcements, Tuesday, 1/22

January 22, 2019

Today is Tuesday, January 22nd and it is an A Day.

Students who have previously taken driver ed. and still have the student handbook please bring them to Coach Johnson.

Attention Juniors:

P.K. Yonge will select one Student Representative from the Junior class to participate in the 2019 Clay Electric Youth Tour to Washington Contest

One alternate will also be selected in the event that the student representative is unable to attend. The selected student will go on an all-expenses paid trip to Tallahassee for 2 and a half days from Feb. 19-21st.  While in Tallahassee, students will participate in a contest which consists of a written quiz and speech, in addition to touring the state capital and seeing the government in action.  Students will be provided the speech topic and written quiz materials prior to the trip. A panel of judges will determine the four winners based on their combined scores of the written quiz and speech.  Once the contest concludes, students will visit the Senate or House chambers for a mock session, Supreme Court, Governor’s mansion and/or notable museums. At the conclusion of the trip, the four contest winners will then spend an all-expense paid week in Washington, D.C. from June 15-20th.  Interested Juniors should see Mrs. Theiss in Guidance by TODAY to apply.

Tickets will be sold TODAY during High School and Middle School Lunch for students who would like to attend the In-School Girls Basketball Game on Friday January 25th against Hawthorne at 1:30 in the gym. We need everyone to come out and show your support for the Girls Basketball Team. Tickets are $4.00. There will be raffles with purchased tickets during the game and great concessions!

National Junior Honor Society middle school members and friends please come to Mrs. Beckett’s room during lunch TODAY to plan our support for a friend in need. Please bring your lunch.

Rising high school juniors and seniors: Are you dedicated to the life sciences, natural resources, or Florida agriculture?  Participate in the Florida Youth Institute for 1 week in July at the UF campus to experience, connect, explore, interact, and present.  For more information about this and other excellent summer opportunities for high school students, go to www.cpet.ufl.edu/students.

Congratulations to the Middle School Boys Basketball team for their back-to-back wins over Williston and Fort White.  High fives also to the Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball teams for back-to-back wins in Tallahassee over Maclay and Leon this past weekend.  Roll on, Blue Wave!
