October 30, 2020

Great things are happening this school year! We are excited to share that P.K. Yonge’s high school was named #1 in Gainesville, #47 in Florida, and #946 in the nation by US News & World Report. | Details

In addition to celebrating this news we share a few more things happening on campus. We congratulate Ian Lentz and Katelyn Huber on advancing to the regional golf tournament and our boys and girls swimming and diving team on being named district champions!

This year our students have already presented a fall play online, published the second edition of Celebremos Nuestra Cultura, and worked on projects with students from China, Poland, Russia, Iraq, Israel and the West Bank, Colombia, and Kyrgyzstan.

Our Library Blog continues to share reviews and resources, Ms. Johnson’s students’ work will be exhibited in two digital art shows at the Harn Museum of Art for the month of November: My World Collages and Day in the Life of Covid 19 and our 4th and 5th Grade morning show just keeps getting better!

P.K. faculty members Blacke Beckett, Carla Ann Brown, Johnny Bell, Mickey MacDonald, Jon Mundorf, and Rachel Snyder continue to share the work at P.K. Yonge through their efforts to participate in a range of opportunities from presentations, to panels, to social media campaigns and features, and more. Topics addressed in recent activities have included Universal Design for Learning, social justice, equity, and inclusion, mental health, and teaching in the virtual environment.

P.K. is a wonderful place, Blue Wave community, and even when our school circumstances are altered, our students and faculty are doing great things!
