Tallahassee Court Ruling

August 27, 2021

Many may be aware of the court ruling in Tallahassee today (August 27) in the case Parents v DeSantis regarding the executive order banning mask mandates in K-12 schools in the state of Florida. The judge ruled against the executive order banning mask mandates. However, the governor has announced he will appeal the ruling and, until all appeals are exhausted, we will not know the final outcome. More information will be shared with families as it becomes available.

Therefore, as we follow the process of this issue and consult with the University of Florida, no immediate changes will be made to the mask policy at P.K. Yonge. Current COVID-19 related campus health protocols may be found on the P.K Yonge website: Campus Health COVID-19.

We continue to expect our Blue Wave students, faculty, and staff to wear masks, maintain distance when possible, not to come to school while sick or after a COVID-19 exposure, and wash hands often.
