Senior Parking Spots 24-25

Each year, Seniors are given the opportunity to personalize and “own” their own parking spaces in the student parking lot.  Painting a senior parking space is optional.  All student drivers who wish to park on campus must complete a student parking permit application and purchase a parking decal.

Below is information about this process:  

Dates for Painting:

    • August 5th – 8th 9-2
      • Monday – Thursday before school starts
    • August 28th 9-2 (Tentative Additional Day)
      • Wednesday (First E-learning day)

Paints Allowed 

        • Water based exterior latex paint
        • Spray paint allowed but fades quicker over time
        • Any oil-based Exterior approved paint
          • Oil-Based Spray Paint Allowed
          • Rust-Oleum brand is most common
          • Cheaper at Lowes than Home Depot
        • Oil Based primer (recommended)
          • If not used then more coats of paint may be needed to get proper color/stay on longer

Money 

    • $25 to paint parking spot
      • Must pay in business office prior to painting spot
    • $25 to purchase a parking decal
      • Must pay in business office prior to painting (Earliest you can do this is Monday, August 5th at 8:30 am)

In order to be allowed to park on campus, a student must:

        • Show valid driver’s license
        • Provide current insurance card
        • Provide current vehicle registration
        • Return student parking permit application with above documents to the business office

Other information

    • Submit design sketch to Dr. Geiger cgeiger@pky.ufl.edu by 2 PM at least two days BEFORE painting.
    • Parking spaces will be limited to the white lines (cannot paint over the white lines).
    • Takes about 3 hours to dry completely.
    • Strongly recommend using black as your background to save you time. 
    • Bring: rollers, paint brushes, towels, paper towels, screwdriver/hammer, broom.
    • Have design ready when you come.
    • Park in the gravel lot to stay out of the way of paint/spray paint on your car.
    • Do not paint on spots that are not yours; however you can help others paint.
    • Outline your spot with duct tape/painter’s tape.
    • Bring chalk to outline design.
    • Work as quickly and efficiently as possible since limited time is provided. 
    • Bring a large scrubbing brush/broom/blower to clear off loose debris (optional).
    • On school days, if you are not in your spot by 9:00 A.M., the spot is available for anyone to park in.
