Secondary Advisory Re-Launch – Feb. 3 On Campus, Feb. 10 Off Campus

February 2, 2021

Families of Secondary Students — Earlier this year, we began to host Advisory group meetings with our secondary students. Advisories are small groups of students and one to two faculty members who meet on campus or online. In an effort to ensure a smooth Advisory re-launch, we will begin on-campus Advisories tomorrow (Feb. 3) and off-campus Advisories next week (Feb. 10)

ON-CAMPUS Advisory will begin again on Wednesday, February 3.**
For information about Advisory and where to meet on campus, students can check Canvas or look for lists posted on the windows of the Cafeteria or the Commons Area in the secondary building.

**ON-CAMPUS Advisories will not be broadcast by ZOOM. Students who are members of on-campus Advisories but are currently attending school virtually should use Advisory time (9:10-9:30) this Wednesday to review coursework for other classes.

OFF-CAMPUS Advisory will begin on Wednesday, February 10.
On Wednesday, February 3, students who are members of an off-campus Advisory are encouraged to review course work for their classes during the time Advisory is scheduled (9:10-9:30). We recognize that this may be disappointing for some and are looking forward to connecting with off-campus students for Advisory next week. Information will be posted next week in Advisory courses on Canvas.

About Advisory
Advisories meet each Wednesday from 9:10-9:30. If students are on campus, they meet with their Advisory group and advisor in person. If students are off campus, they meet via ZOOM with either a 6th-8th grade group or a high school grade level group and one or two faculty and/or staff members. Each student, whether on or off campus, is enrolled in an Advisory and an Advisory Canvas course will show up when students log in to Canvas.

Advisory is a time scheduled each week designed to support community building and uncover common ground between all members of our diverse school community. We are pleased to be partnering with the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding in developing Advisory and other structures as we continue the development of our school community.

We are excited about beginning Advisory again as a way to foster connection between members of the Blue Wave community.
