New-to-PK High School Students

New-to-P.K. Yonge High School Families — As we get closer to the end of the school year, we’re reaching out to families so that we can be sure we have plans in place when students start school in August. Mr. Chambliss and Mrs. Theiss, our high school counselors, began making plans for the 2021-22 school year with new-to-P.K. Yonge students and families beginning in May.

If you have not been in contact with your school counselor yet, please reach out to them before Monday, May 24. Mr. Chambliss works with families with student’s last names A-J (cchambliss@pky.ufl.edu), and Mrs. Theiss works with families with student’s last names K-Z (stheiss@pky.ufl.edu).

Families and students may select from the options below. If a consultation with a counselor is needed, families may choose to meet with their counselor in Zoom OR may schedule a face-to-face meeting.

Options for Students and Families

  1. Download and Submit Course Request Form (listed below). Draft student preferences and send forms your assigned counselor | (Mr. Chambliss: last names A-J , Mrs. Theiss: last names K-Z).
  2. Schedule a Zoom meeting with your assigned counselor (Mr. Chambliss: A-J , Mrs. Theiss: K-Z). Zoom meetings can be scheduled from the beginning of May until June 7.
    —OR—
  3.  Schedule an in-person meeting for June 1-7 by contacting your assigned counselor. (Mr. Chambliss: A-J , Mrs. Theiss: K-Z)

 

Some Reminders

The High School Course Guide is available for families to review. To start thinking and planning for conversations with counselors in early May, families may like to download and review a draft of our high school Course Request Forms. 9th Grade | 10th Grade | 11th Grade | 12th Grade

The Course Guide, Course Request Forms, and other important information for families is shared on the High School – Getting Started page. We recommend that families bookmark the High School – Getting Started page as information will continue to be updated as we head into summer and approach the new school year.

Additional information about events and activities for incoming students are shared via email, our web Announcements, and on our @PKYongeBluewave Facebook page.

Please note: Communications with families prior to the start of the 2021-22 school year use the contact information included in the admissions application we have on file. Families will be able to add email addresses and make changes once their students are officially entered into the student information system in August.
