Mental Health Advisory Days 2021-22
October 21, 2021Families of P.K. Yonge Middle and High School Students — Each year, as part of a statewide effort to support student mental health, schools are required to provide five hours of mental health training for secondary students. This year, our State-mandated mental health training will take place once a month through a mental health focused advisory day.
On these days the bell schedule will be modified slightly to provide adequate processing and discussion time. Drop-off and pick-up times remain the same. Bell times during the day will be adjusted to extend advisory by 20 minutes.
Below families will find information about the mental health focused advisory days including the schedule and topics planned for each advisory. Families may also be interested in reviewing guides provided for home access: Suite 360 Home Resources
Based on an understanding that some topics covered may be challenging, counselors are available to students and may be accessed by notifying the class teacher or by students sending a message to their counselors via Canvas.
What Do Students Do on Mental Health Days? Students attend their regular class periods and advisory. The schedule is provided below. Students will be automatically assigned the virtual curriculum for the mental health focused advisory day.
