Happy Holidays!

Season’s Greetings, P.K. Yonge Families! As we look toward winter break, we know that the 2020 holiday season will be different for many of us. We send our best and warmest greetings to all for a healthy, happy, and safe holiday.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus or online on Tuesday, January 5, and before we leave for break, we wanted to highlight some important dates on the horizon:

Mon., January 11 – Tue., January 12 … Early Dismissal K-12 10:55am | MS/HS Exams
Wed., January 13 – Tue., January 19 … Student Holidays
Wed., January 20 … Start of Second Semester

For something fun to do over the break, we recommend taking a look at the most recent edition of Celebremos Nuestra Cultura (don’t miss the recipes for some treats to make) and the Hidden Library Blog for reviews of books that might make great last-minute gifts for the young people in your lives.

Our student and family services team has created a series of Family Webinars this year focused on academics and mental health and well-being. If you have time and inclination over the break, they can be found on the Family Webinar playlist on YouTube or linked from the Student and Family Services page on the web!

Something About Zoom and Monitoring Student Behavior Online Over the Break
With online safety in mind, student access to Zoom on their school-issued Chromebooks will be closed down over winter break from December 18 at 4pm until January 5 at 7:45am.

The use of Chromebooks and other web-based devices issued to students by P.K. Yonge is monitored when students connect to the Internet on campus and off campus. Alerts triggered by Internet behavior that is cause for concern are acted upon during the school day when school is in session. If a student uses the internet inappropriately on a school-issued device outside of school hours, a notification will be automatically generated and addressed the next school day. This means that notifications generated over weekends will be addressed on Mondays, and notifications generated over school breaks will be addressed when school resumes.
