Family Picnic – Details
March 16, 2022We are excited to be hosting the annual P.K. Yonge Family Picnic again! This event is hosted for for Elementary School families the week prior to Spring Break. This year it will be on Friday, March 18 from 11:00am – 12:30pm on the grassy area in the middle of the Elementary Traffic Circle. Most families bring lunches from home or from take-out places*. Families also bring blankets or chairs.

Who: Elementary families (and siblings in secondary)
When: Friday, March 18, 2022, 11:00am – 12:30pm
Where: On the grassy area in the middle of the Elementary Traffic Circle
Parking: Elementary upper field – Enter via the main gate near the guard booth and take a left through staff parking, drive through the student parking lot, and enter the north grassy field. NO PARKING ON THE ELEMENTARY TRAFFIC CIRCLE.
IMPORTANT: Get Your ID Scanned BEFORE the day of the Family Picnic
If you are planning to attend the family picnic, please be sure to have your photo ID scanned by the P.K. Yonge Gate Guard at the West Entrance gate (1080 SW 11th Street) before Wednesday, March 16. After you have had your ID scanned you can use the signup below to have your ID badge printed ahead of time.
Photo IDs will NOT be scanned during drop-off or pick up times.
Check-In Information: Online Sign-Up
In the interest of campus safety, all family members need a visitor badge to attend the picnic. Please use the online sign-up to get your visitor badge printed ahead of time. On the day of the picnic, you can pick up your badge from your child’s teacher at the Elementary Traffic Circle. In order to use the online sign-up, you must have already had a photo scanned at the West Entrance gate (1080 SW 11th Street) before the day of the picnic.
We strongly encourage you to register ahead of time. Lines were quite long in the past! If you don’t register ahead of time, you will need to wait in line at the gate to get a badge printed.
Secondary Siblings
If you have a middle or high school student who attends P.K. and will be joining you for the picnic, please EMAIL ATTENDANCE (attendance@pky.ufl.edu) by Wednesday, March 16 and include the student’s name, grade, and that they will need to be checked out for the picnic.
Middle and high school students who have officially been checked out for the picnic will be released at 11:00am. If your secondary student will be returning to class after the picnic, please officially check them back in at the Main Office.
For Families Unable to Attend
We realize every family may not be able to attend the picnic and we would like to make sure that every child has the opportunity to sit with a family or friend. Please let us know if we need to make arrangements for your child.
On the Day…
The Family Picnic begins at 11:00. After morning drop-off, the ELEMENTARY TRAFFIC CIRCLE WILL BE CLOSED; there will be NO PARKING ON THE ELEMENTARY TRAFFIC CIRCLE! The primary parking area will be on the elementary upper field.
Enter via the west gate (1080 SW 11th Street) near the guard booth and take a left, drive through the staff parking lot, and enter the top grassy field. Arrive early to find the best parking! We look forward to seeing you there!
When the picnic is over, you may leave if you have already checked your child out. Teachers will have clipboards with sign-out sheets at the Elementary Traffic Circle for quick check-out. With student safety in mind, families MUST sign their children out before leaving.
For students staying at school after the picnic, please check the communication from your learning community for details regarding where and when your student should meet their teacher.
*Lunches will be available from the cafeteria for students whose families are unable to attend.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found items for elementary students will be laid out on the Elementary Circle on the day of the family picnic. All items remaining at 4:30pm on the day of the picnic will be donated to a local charity.
