Elementary Open House – Thursday, September 7
August 31, 2017We are so excited for the 2017-2018 school year! Join us for Elementary Open House on September 7th from 5:00-7:00pm in the Elementary Building. Students and families meet teachers, spend time in the learning communities, and learn more about student life in the P.K. Yonge Elementary School.
During Open House families choose how to organize their schedules. The event begins with the Annual Family Partnership meeting, followed by three sessions for visits to learning communities, teachers, art, music, and PE.
Alachua County Library representatives will also be on hand to help families sign up for library cards and to share some online resources.

Activities
A variety of activities are available to families during Open House. See below for details regarding what’s happening in each Learning Community and where to learn more about Art, Music, and PE.
K/1 Learning Community
Visit your child’s grade level teacher’s room. Each session will include the following:
- Participate in a morning meeting
- Learn about the school day
- Check out your child’s work
- Spend time in the room and learning community
2/3 Learning Community
Visit your child’s grade level teacher’s room. An information packet will be available for all families to take home and each session will include the following:
- Participate in a mini morning meeting
- Choose an activity (math game, word sort)
- Check out your student’s portfolio
- Spend time in the room and learning community
4/5 Learning Community
Visit the Learning Community and choose from the topics below. All three topics will be available each session. To hear all topics, spend all 3 sessions in the 4/5 Learning Community.
- Topic 1 : Writing in 4/5 : Chromebooks, Google Classroom, Genres
- Topic 2 : Reading in 4/5 : Conferences, Reading at Home, Online Journals
- Topic 3 : Mathematics in 4/5 : Benchmarks, Work at Home, Math Games
