COVID-19 – Procedure Reminders & Updates
August 25, 2021With higher COVID-19 case numbers in our community and university students now back in town, we are sharing important updates and reminders regarding P.K. Yonge’s COVID-19 response.
What to Do
Just like last year, when a family member shows signs of, or tests positive for COVID-19, contact the school nurse | nurse@pky.ufl.edu | 352.294.7293. Families with positive cases will be contacted by UF Health Screen, Test & Protect (STP) regarding next steps and for contact tracing to begin | COVID-19 Campus Response.
School-Based Contact Tracing
When a positive case is identified in a class, P.K. Yonge will immediately identify close contacts within the classroom using STP guidelines (exposure to the positive case for at least 15 minutes and within 6 feet).
Notification and Next Steps
Families of close classroom contacts will be notified by P.K. Yonge by email and phone and are immediately withheld from campus to reduce the possible spread of COVID-19. Following that notification by the school, STP will contact and work with families of those withheld to collect additional information and provide directions regarding next steps. UF Health may also identify additional contacts based on their investigation. If families have not received a call from STP within 24 hours of their initial notification by the school, they should reach out to STP directly using the number supplied in the notification email.
Return to Campus
Once students are cleared for return by STP, they may come back to school, and should check in with the nurse BEFORE returning to class. Students returning to school after any illness who arrive in class without a pass from the nurse will be directed to the clinic to pick one up.
