Construction for Secondary Building Approved!

September 6, 2019

Great News P.K. Yonge Families!

We are thrilled to announce that at the September 6 University of Florida Board of Trustees meeting, P.K. Yonge was given full Board approval for construction to begin on our new secondary building!

We are so excited for this project to begin! Our 1950s secondary campus has served us well, but we are eager to walk through the doors that our new secondary facility will open for us.

As we worked toward securing Board approval, efforts have been underway on campus to prepare the construction site. The site is ready, and teams will arrive next week to begin removing the old library and J-wing. Further information regarding the timeline for construction will be shared after upcoming pre-construction meetings.

Throughout the project, school administration will be working closely with the construction team to minimize disruption to students, faculty, and staff during the school day. Given the location of construction, there should be minimal impact on student and family traffic.

Thank You!
Words are inadequate to describe how grateful we are for the many people who have worked so hard on our behalf. This new secondary facility is now a reality because of the support we have received from the University of Florida, the UF Board of Trustees, the UF Cabinet, and the Florida Legislature.

We are grateful to our faculty and staff and to all of our P.K. families and students present and past, for their commitment to P.K. Yonge. We would not be able to do this work without you!
