Campus Health Update 2021-22

July 23, 2021

At P.K. Yonge, we are committed to maintaining a healthy environment for all members of our school community. We follow guidance from the University of Florida, UF Health and the Florida Department of Education, as informed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Based on this guidance, P.K. Yonge will return to normal, pre-COVID-19 operations for the 2021-22 school year. All instruction will take place on campus. The P.K. Yonge virtual/hi-flex options will not be offered.

The following health information, based on current circumstances and guidance, is important as we look toward returning to school on August 10. If new circumstances require changes to guidance or campus protocols, families will be informed as soon as information becomes available.

COVID-19 Vaccinations are Encouraged
Prior to the start of school, UF/P.K. Yonge encourages eligible members of the UF/P.K. Yonge community (age 12 years and older) to be vaccinated. For local COVID-19 vaccine clinics, check Vaccine Availability.

Masks: Optional and Recommended for Non-Vaccinated Individuals
Based on guidance from the CDC and in concert with the State University System and the Florida Department of Education, mask wearing is optional on the UF/P.K. Yonge campus in UF/P.K. Yonge facilities.

Masks are not required but are strongly recommended for students, faculty, staff and visitors who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 on campus while indoors or in close proximity to others. For more information: CDC: Help Stop the Spread of COVID-19 in Children.

Campus Response to Positive COVID-19 Diagnoses
P.K. Yonge has an established response to COVID-19 exposures and positive diagnoses on campus. The COVID-19 Campus Response for 2021-22 will be shared prior to the start of the school year. If changes to our COVID-19 campus response become necessary throughout the year, families will be informed as soon as information becomes available.
