Back to School Update #1

This is Dr. Carrie Geiger, Principal at P.K. Yonge. We are excited about 2018-19 and we’re looking forward to making it a successful year for all students!
Over the next two weeks, we’ll be sharing information with you by phone, email, and Facebook to help you get ready for the new school year. If you miss an email, check the Announcements page on the P.K. Yonge website or visit our Facebook page.

Important Skyward Updates, the School Schedule, Important Dates for 2018-19, the Clinic, the Cafeteria, School Supplies, and After-school Options. For Elementary: Blue Wave Elementary Preview, and for Secondary, reminders about Middle and High School Orientations.

Skyward Updates – IMPORTANT!
The 2018-19 Skyward Enrollment, Family and Emergency Information Update for all students through our student information system, will take place from August 13th – September 7th. Please login to Skyward to verify and update your information. If you don’t know your Skyward login or password contact the Data Entry office (x 285) or the Front Office (x 221). Keeping your Skyward information up to date enables us to share updates and emergency information with you throughout the year. Please take time to make sure your students’ information is accurate and up-to-date.

Elementary: 8:00-2:30 (M, T, Th, F) and 8:00-12:45 (W)

SPECIAL NOTE: Please plan ahead. Friday, September 21st is a pupil holiday/teacher workday unique to P.K. Yonge to support the research mission of our school. This is NOT an Alachua County School District student holiday.

School supply lists are linked here: School Supplies and may be found on class pages for Kindergarten-7th Grades. For 8th-12th grade students, some loose-leaf paper, a folder, and a pencil or pen is sufficient for the first day. Supply lists will be provided in class syllabi on the first day of school.

AFTER SCHOOL OPTIONS
Student supervision is from 7:30am – 2:45pm unless involved in a club, rehearsal, practice, or in one of the options below. If not involved in any of these options, students must leave campus by 2:45pm.
– Elementary and Middle School | Details
Families may be interested in Blue Wave After School if after care is needed.
– Middle School Study Hall | Details
Due to construction, there will be no school-sponsored after school care for middle school students. Blue Wave After School is offering a Middle School Study Hall to P.K. Yonge students .
– High School Study Hall
Due to the removal of the Mead Library, a supervised study space will be provided in the east side of the cafeteria Monday – Friday until 5:00pm
August 13th is just around the bend and we’re looking forward to seeing you all on the first day of school!
