Good morning, Blue Wave.

Today is Wednesday September 27th, 2017 and today is an A Day!


Homecoming week continues today with Walt Disney Wednesday.  Tomorrow is Time Travel Thursday be sure to wear different decade clothing!

Homecoming dance tickets are on sale in front of the cafeteria during HS lunch.  Tickets are $10 and students must get them before the event on Friday if they want to go.  The dance will take place from 9 to midnight on Friday night after the Homecoming football game.

The PSAT will be given Wednesday, October 11th from 7:45am-12:30pm at the Wyndham Garden Gainesville.  PKY bus transportation will be provided to and from PKY.  All 10th graders will take the exam at no cost and do not need to sign up.  It is strongly recommended that all college bound 11th grade students take the PSAT. Cost for the PSAT is $28 and waivers are available for students with financial need.  Please see your grade level counselor for those waivers.

If you are interested in taking the PSAT please sign up and pay in the PKY Business Office. Registration closes Thursday, October 5th at 3:00pm.

Middle School Softball Club will begin today after school from 2:45 – 3:45. Please see Mr. Steffens or the info on PK website for details.

Any student interested in taking driver education this semester should see Coach Johnson to sign up. Students must be at least 15 years of age. The class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:15 am until 8:00 am; and on Wednesday afternoons from 1:40 pm until 2:30 pm. The cost for the course is $100. All checks must be made payable to the “University of Florida”. The first 30 students to sign up will be admitted into the class. Please do not bring payment until you have been admitted into the class.

Are you interested in serving your country, while having the opportunity to become a pilot, doctor, or even astronaut one day? An Air Force Officer will be available during high school lunch outside of the cafeteria today to talk about an exciting scholarship opportunity that allows you to be a college student while training to be an Air Force officer. Don’t forget to stop by!

Please remember that every student eats free until October 20th Please do not try and get two meals; the system will only allow you ONE meal per meal session

The next Marine Science Club meeting will take place NEXT Tuesday (October 3rd) during lunch.  This change was made to prevent interference with other club meetings.  We will elect officers at that time.  All members, please plan to attend!

Students interested in traveling with Mr. Moody and Mrs. Santiago during June 2018, please bring your parents and come to the meeting this Thursday at 5:30 in Mrs. Santiago’s classroom, Z-1427.

Attention High School Kindness Club students: if you plan to march in the PKY Homecoming Parade with the club this Friday, you must see Mrs. Janicke or Mrs. Barba before the end of lunch today! No exceptions, the paper sign-up sheet is in their classroom L-352.

The Rotary Youth Exchange provides opportunities for students to travel a year abroad. Several PKY students have taken advantage of this opportunity in the past and have all had positive things to say about the way the experience impacted their lives.  This Friday, September 29th, representatives will present information about the exchange program in Mrs. MacDonald’s room from 11:45-12:45. High School Students are encouraged to attend. Bring your lunch with you.


Volleyball is in action tonight at Oak Hall.  MS starts at 4:00pm, JV is at 5:00pm, and Varsity finishes the night at 6:30pm.
