Good morning, Blue Wave.  Today is Wednesday, May 9th and it is a B Day!

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:Today is Q day, be sure to wear a crown like a Queen.  Tomorrow is P day, be sure to wear pajamas, the color pink or purple!

 

Health Smart Tip of the DayMake your household chores fun! Create an upbeat music playlist, and dance while sweeping or vacuuming. The time will pass by quicker, and it is a great way to increase your daily physical activity.

 

Do you want to spend your summer diving into springs and exploring swamps? Do you want to empower yourself as leader for Florida’s environment and communities? Join the Young Leaders for Wild Florida, a two-week environmental leadership summer program for teens in Alachua County.  If you are ages 16-19 and interested please visit Walk for Wild Florida’s website and select Young Leadersfor Wild Florida.

 

Campaigning for Student Council offices continues today. Please respectfully campaign for your accepted offices until Monday May 14th using flyers, posters, and social media. Remember—you cannot change the office that you are running for after today. All speeches must be shared as a google doc today

 

The application process for all sixth and seventh grade students interested in becoming a member of the National Junior Honor Society is open. The requirements include a cumulative 3.4 GPA for 7th grade students and proficient in all core classes for 6th grade students.  Interested students must complete an application form that is available on the club page of the school website.  Students can also get an application for directly from Dr. Cordero or Dr. Breil.  The application is due Friday, May 18th.

 

The Hispanic Honor Society will be selling Hispanic Food during the Art Festival May 10th. Be sure to stop by and get some good food!

 

Seniors:

 

All Seniors – the voting digital form for MC for graduation was inadvertently closed. It has been re-opened and will remain open until Friday. Seniors, don’t forget to cast your vote for MC!

 

Remember – one vote per person…and the form knows!The MC will be announced at the Senior Awards night on May 14th.

 

Water day is Friday, May 18th, the last day of AP exams. (It is not this Friday.) Please check the upperclassmen page for updates on all senior activities and events.

Seniors, please remember to fill out a “Final” transcript request form and turn in to Mrs. Flinchum or Ms. Bryen to have your transcript sent to the College you are going to attend.

 

Power Hour:

 

All students currently in 8-10th grade interested in traveling to Europe in the Summer of 2020, please see Mrs. Santiago in room Z-1427, this week during Power and come to our meeting on May 10 with your parents from 6-7 pm.
