February 1, 2023

Good morning! Today is Wednesday, February 1st In honor of Black History Month, we will be highlighting different aspects of black history and culture across the diaspora.

Today we are highlighting someone who is very much outsold in everything she has done, Serena Williams. Now, Serena’s sporting accomplishments include being ranked No. 1 in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association for 319 weeks, 4 olympic medals and $94.8 million dollars in prize money. Although Ms.Williams recently retired, she has put her star power and money to good use with the creation of The Yetunde Price Resource Center which offers healing-centered and trauma-informed programs to the residents of Compton, CA. It provides critical services to families impacted by violence, including resources that promote healing and resiliency. Above all, the Center is a space dedicated to nurturing, sharing, and supporting its local community. Join with me in celebrating Serena as contemporary in black history.

Trash Reminder from Coach Mac

To my beloved middle and high school students. I love you, but I don’t love your trash on the ground after lunch…tighten up. If you don’t, we will have to restrict your eating area to inside the cafeteria and the connected patio and tables. This would mean no picnics on the lawn. But I have faith in you to fix this. Love, your campus dad. Coach Mac.

Please pause for a moment of silence:

Please stand for the pledge:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
