August 18, 2021

Good morning! Today is Wednesday, August 18th.

Any high school students who need volunteer hours can sign-up to work football games in the concession stand with Coach Barrett at lunch. You will also get a free burger or chicken sandwich and a cold drink for helping the football team!

The Hispanic Honor Society will meet today Wednesday, 8/18 at Mrs. Santiago’s classroom L-356, during lunch. Please see Mrs. Santiago or Isabela Lemos for questions.

Do you like acting or technical theatre? Do you want to meet a great group of high schoolers?  Are you interested in Thespian Club?  Come to the PKY Thespian Club interest meeting, Thursday August 19 at 2:35 in the Theatre room!

High School! The fall play this year is A CHRISTMAS CAROL.  Auditions are August 24th in the PAC.  Audition materials are on Canvas and on the school website Thespian page.  This is a great play with tons of roles of every size and shape! Get involved and have fun. We are live and back on stage!

Dual Enrollment students – Come by the main office to pick up your form.  Also, any dual enrollment student who has NOT met with Mr. Chambliss, please come by to the office.

Attention seniors – if you’d like to paint your parking spot this year, you have one more chance to do it.  Saturday, August 21st from 8-noon, the campus will be open for seniors who have purchased their parking decals to paint their chosen spaces. You must first buy your decal AND pay $10 to paint.  This can be done in the business office. Your painting design must be approved by Mrs. Koppitch prior to painting. You can send them to her at mkoppitch@pky.ufl.edu by Thursday, August 19th.  More information can be found on the Senior corner page on the PK Yonge website, or in your Senior Class Canvas course.

Attention Seniors – senior lunch is back! Every Friday, seniors may leave class 5 minutes early to go to lunch

BECAUSE YOU ASKED:

QUESTION 1: What does it mean when Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben says “With great power, comes great responsibility?”

ANSWER: For us it means to remember that PK is a k-12 campus and you are an older student. This means that elementary students look up to you and you are their role models, whether you have chosen that job or not.  So, please do not bring anything on this campus that could be harmful to anyone, especially your elementary fan club.  Also, when you are walking by the elementary students, please watch your language and behavior.  They are listening, watching, and looking up to you at all times.

Please stand for the pledge:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Have a great day, Blue Wave!
