Announcements, Tuesday 4/23

April 23, 2019

Today is Tuesday, April 23rd and it is a B Day.

This week is Staff Appreciation Week.  There are many folks on campus who keep this place up and running. These include our front office staff, the business office staff, the building services team, the cafeteria team, our tech support folks, Mrs. V., Mr. Dodge, Grandma Weller, Mrs. Hutson, Mrs. Flinchum, Coach Brunson, Coach Stewart, Ms. Henderson, Nurse Brittany, our bus drivers, and Mr. Marski.  Please take a moment to thank them for their service to our school.

Wanna be a part of an award-winning family? Try out for the P. K. Yonge Colorguard!  Auditions will take place on Monday April 29th and Tuesday April 30th from 3-5:30 in the band room. See you there!

The football team will be holding tryouts for place kickers and punters, every Tuesday and Thursday in the month April. Soccer players are greatly encouraged to tryout. If you are interested, please come see Coach McDonald or send him an email on Canvas. Kicking is a valuable skill set and a great way to be a part of the football team!

Seniors, please remember to fill out a “Final” transcript request form and turn in to Mrs. Flinchum or Ms. Bryen to have your transcript sent to the College you are going to attend.

Please come to the Black Student Union bake sale after school TOMORROW.  We will be down by the gym. Come and get your brownies, cookies, and other sweet treats!

Attention BSU members – please come to Mr. Miller’s room for a quick meeting after school today.

On Friday, April 26th, the students traveling to China will be hosting a Parents Night Out offering babysitting from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm in the I-wing.  The cost is $10 per child per hour. If you know of anyone (neighbors, teachers, family members) that are interested please let them know. We will have the UF mobile planetarium and lots of games for the kids to enjoy while their parents enjoy some relaxing time.  Thanks for your support!

A tradition for P.K. Yonge to wrap up the school year is to have a little fun dressing up for each of the last 26 days of school.  Check out the link on the announcements page to see the fun ways we can all celebrate the last days of school, no matter what grade you’re in!  Let’s make this a school-wide event! The countdown begins on Thursday, April 25th. — Z-A End of Year Countdown

The Cade Museum is currently recruiting high school volunteers ages 16 and older to be volunteers for our 2019 Summer Camp Volunteer Program. Volunteers will help to make our summer camps an engaging, positive learning experience for all participants. This is a great opportunity for high school students to get involved in the community as well as earn community service hours. Find an informational flyer on the announcements page. —  Applications are due April 30th.
