Celebrate Freedom Week

The Florida Legislature has declared the last week of September to be Celebrate Freedom Week. Students all around the state will be learning about the important documents upon which our nation was founded.  One of these documents, the Declaration of Independence, begins with these memorable words:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Thank you to our amazing band and student section who brought the Blue Wave spirit to our first home football game. Thanks for supporting your team, your classmates, and your school. Special high fives to Willy the Wave!

Senior Portraits

Seniors will have their final opportunity to have senior portraits included in the yearbook on Monday. Seniors who need pictures taken are listed below, but they can also come if they would like to take a retake for yearbook. Seniors should report to DaVinci Studio in 2nd floor elementary between 8 and 11. 

Gym Closed at 3

The gym will close at 3pm today for all students not actively in a practice. 

Letterman Jacket

Letterman jacket fitting will be today during lunch. 

Picture Day for K-11

School Picture Day for Kindergarten through 11th grade is Tuesday, September 26. Look your best! 

Senior Canvas

Seniors – please make sure you are checking in the senior canvas course announcements section. There are several new announcements posted.

Senior Community Service

Seniors – Need more community service hours? How about helping out at the homecoming dance on Friday, Oct. 13th? Sign up for a time slot for the Friday, Oct. 13th event. Look for the link in the senior canvas course announcements.

Powderpuff Game

Interested in playing in the annual powderpuff football game?  Any 9-12th grade girl can sign-up with Coach Barrett during high school lunch today through Thursday.  Cost is $5

Boys Soccer Interest Meeting 

There is an interest meeting for the PKY boys soccer program on Monday, September 25 at 2:45 PM in the first floor green 116 in the secondary building for all 6-12th grade boys interested in joining the program. 

Homecoming

9th-12th graders, it’s time to nominate your choices for Homecoming Court. Check in canvas for your grade level’s nomination forms. Nominations are open until next Monday, September 25th. The top 3 from each grade will be on the ballots for Homecoming Court.

SG Chipotle Fundraiser

Celebrate Taco Tuesday AND support your Student Government! Head to the Chipotle on Archer Road on Tuesday, September 26th from 5-9 pm and tell them you’re with P.K. Student Government. Rather take out instead? No problem, you can order online and use the code 9MDYJ3A. All funds raised will go towards more student events like pep rallies, winter market, and homecoming.

MS Art Competition

PK is holding a competition for 6th-8th grade students who would like the chance to have their artwork hanging in our State Capitol! The Art in the Capitol Competition will be accepting submissions now through the deadline of Monday, October 16th. Please bring your submissions to either Mr. Moody or Ms. Johnson no later than October 16th. The winner will be announced Monday, October 25th. See Mr. Moody or Ms. Johnson if you have any questions!

Blood Drive

One Blood will be here Sept 29- Oct 4 for sign up to donate blood on October 5. You will need a valid Id and 16 or older. Sign up will be during high school lunch. If you have question see an NHS member or Dr. Bolejack.

Homecoming

Hey Blue Wave! The Homecoming dance is right around the corner on Friday October the 13th from 8:30-11:30. The theme is enchanted forest. 9-12 graders only! All tickets are available online through hometown ticketing. $10 for students and guests’ tickets. $15 for admission and a souvenir ticket, or at the door for $20. If you want to be able to come, make sure you are not on an attendance or behavior contract and have all your service hours done. 10th graders need 10 hours, 11th graders need 25 and 12th graders need 30 hours. If you are planning on bringing a guest, make sure you have fill out the form through hometown ticketing by Oct. 9th. Tickets are on sale now through the 9th. Look for posters with the QR code or go to student government’s Instagram page. Can’t wait to see you there!
