Announcements – Monday, March 18

March 18, 2024

Good morning, Blue Wave. Today is Monday, March 18.

Happy Birthday Mrs. V

Someone very special had a birthday over Spring Break.  When you see Mrs. V. today, wish her a belated happy birthday and remind her how young and beautiful she is! We love you, Mrs. Villanueva!

Feminist Club – Women’s History Month

Feminist Club will be highlighting influential women for the rest of March. Sojourner Truth was a woman born into slavery who became an abolition pioneer and also fought for the equality of women. She produced an autobiography called The Narrative of Sojourner Truth, gave speeches, and dedicated her life towards equality.

Make sure to stop by Feminist Club’s table at lunch on Tuesday, March 26th or Wednesday, March 27th to purchase a flower gram to be delivered to a woman or girl you love that Friday. All proceeds will go to charity.

Congrats Roaring Riptide

Please join us in congratulating the high school robotics team – Roaring Riptide.

This past week, Riptide competed at the Tallahassee Regionals and earned the highest award – the Engineering Inspiration Award.

This award celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s school or organization and community.

To earn an award at this level, means the team had to meet the following guidelines –

  • Showcase the extent and inventiveness of their efforts to recruit students of all ages in the engineering pathway.
  • Provides data on the Extent and effectiveness of the team’s community outreach efforts
  • Show a commitment to science and technology education among the team, school, and community.
  • Riptide reflected their Achievement of the FIRST mission and ability to communicate that at the competition and away from it.
  • The team also provided documentation and data to indicate their Efforts are ongoing, not strictly concentrated on the build and competition season.

Earning this award means the team receives an automatic bid to the World Championship in Houston, Texas AND the team registration will be completely sponsored by NASA!
