Pre-Collegiate Club 

Attention Pre-Collegiate Members!! The Pre-Collegiate Club will have a meeting Tuesday 12/12, to discuss the South Florida Spring Break Trip, please be in attendance for major details regarding the trip. The meeting will be held in the first floor commons during High School lunch; hope to see you there.

Donation Drive

HEY PK! Student Government and NHS is partnering with Gainesville Empowerment Zone to donate clothes, books, and toys to children in need for the holidays. If you’d like to donate any items, please see Mrs. Koppitch or a member of Student Government for information. We need all items by Friday, December 15th. 

Congrats to SG 

Congratulations to Senior Senator Tessa Frenchman and Junior Representative Bella Lemos on their resolution presented at the FASC meeting last Thursday. Their resolution was approved against 9 other resolutions, and is headed to the state meeting in February! Way to go, Tessa and Bella! 

Elementary Chorus Alumni

Calling all elementary chorus alumni! You’re invited to sing in the peace round at the Elementary Winter Chorus Concert is Thursday, Dec. 14th – 6:00 at the PAC.  Please contact Dr. Pennypacker Hill if you have interested or have any questions. 

Chris Morris Arts Endowment Summer Experience Scholarship

We are excited to announce the Chris Morris Arts Endowment Summer Experience Scholarship! The purpose of the Summer Experience Scholarship is to assist an interested rising junior or senior to attend a summer art institute, camp, or class.  PK is offering up to  $1500 for a student to participate in a summer program.  If you are a 10th or 11th grader currently enrolled in band, performing arts, or fine arts classes, your teacher has information about this opportunity.  Otherwise, you can see Dr. Geiger for more information about the application.  All portions of the application, including a note of support from your parent and two teacher/mentor recommendations are due no later than January 30th. The scholarship information can be found under the News section of the Website

New Percussion Group

Want to be a part of a new drum group here at PK?  There will be an interest meeting for a new Percussion group on Monday at 3 pm in the band room.  This is open to all 8th through 12th grade students.  You do NOT have to have experience with the marching band to attend.  All musicians and budding musicians are invited.  See Dr. Burg or Mr. Marski if you have questions.  

Spring Musical Auditions 

Mark your calendars! Auditions for the Spring Musical, Into the Woods, will be on Wednesday, December 13th at 2:00 in Mrs. Hemmerich’s room. Callbacks on Thursday, December 14th, same time and place. Audition material and sign ups will be posted on the Troupe 4102 instagram and the PKY Performing Arts Facebook page by the end of the day. 

Arctic Ice

Arctic Ice will be here after school on Monday and at the Winter Market on Wednesday. They will be parked on the service drive near the 6th Street walking gate.  They have snow cones and coffee drinks available, so whether you want something hot or cold, stop by and pick up a treat and support your BSU!

WinterWonderBags

BSU will be delivering WinterWonderBags on Wednesday, 12/20 during  4th period.  Purchase a special gift and write a WinterWonderGram for your friends to be delivered before the holidays.  These treats are $2 each and can be purchased in front of the cafeteria during HS lunch through Monday.

Dress Up Days – The 11-20th of December are dress up days. Each day has its own theme! 

Dress up Days:

  • Monday 12/11 – Winter Sport
  • Tuesday 12/12 – Ugly Sweater
  • Wednesday 12/13 – Candy Cane (red and white)
  • Thursday 12/14 – Lumberjack
  • Friday 12/15 – Reindeer vs Elves
  • Monday 12/18 – Grinch day
  • Tuesday 12/19 – Color Wars (12th and 8th – red, 11th and 7th – green, 10th and 6th – blue, 9th – white)
  • Wednesday 12/20 – PJs

Photo Contest

Yearbook is hosting a Winter Spirit Week photo contest! Send in your photos with your best outfits each day to photos@pkyonge.ufl.edu or DM them to @pky.yonge Instagram. You can send them in yourself, have a parent or friend send them, or ask a teacher to take a picture of you and send it. Make sure to include your name and grade. An elementary, middle school, and high school winner will receive a holiday prize pack from Yearbook. 

Winter Market

Attention Students!

Get ready for an exhilarating event this upcoming Wednesday, December 13, taking place during high school advisory from 9:11 AM to 9:55 AM. Join us for the Winter Market, a fantastic opportunity to explore a wide array of sports and clubs our school has to offer. Each group will be stationed at their respective table, showcasing crucial information and offering a selection of items for sale.

From sweets and baked goods to the latest trendy school merchandise, bracelets, and stickers. Remember to bring your cash to take home some fun new merchandise!
