Announcements, September, 10th 2018

Today is Monday, September 10th, and it is an A Day.

Homecoming Week is next week September 17th-September 21st. The theme of Homecoming Week is: ‘Forever Yonge.’ The idea is to always be a kid at heart.
Get ready to show your school spirit all week by dressing up for the following Dress up Days:
Monday-Character Day Monday (Dress up as your favorite TV, Movie, or Book character)
Tuesday-Twin Tuesday (Imitate another person’s clothing)
Wednesday- Decades Day Wednesday (Dress up in the clothing of a famous decade like the 50s, 60s, 70s, etc.)
Thursday- Spirit Day Thursday (Show your Blue Wave Spirit)

The three best dressed students each day will win Chick-fil-A lunch for a day. To participate you must show up in front of the cafeteria by 8AM each morning during Homecoming Week dressed to fit the theme. The results will be announced each afternoon.
The entire student body will also vote for the best dressed teacher each day. To vote go to the Student Government Twitter account and click on the link.
Also get ready for Dime Wars. The grade level who raises the most money for DimeWars will have a pizza party for everyone in the grade in both middle and high school.

Don’t forget to attend the High Tide Pep Rally in the PAC on Wednesday September 19th at 7pm. The cost to attend High Tide is $5. Tickets for all Homecoming events can be purchased in the Business Office.
The BlueWave Homecoming Parade will take place at 9AM on Thursday September 20th. All participating students should check in with their first period teacher and then report to your parade activity or area.

After cheering the football team to victory Friday night we will have the Homecoming Dance in the Gym. The Dance will start at 9pm and end at 11:30pm. It costs $10 to go to the Homecoming Dance. Tickets for all Homecoming events can be purchased in the Business Office. You should dress in semi-formal clothing during the Dance.

Don’t forget that this year Homecoming Week is a short week because there is no school on Friday September 21st.

Juniors and Seniors: Please make sure that you vote for Homecoming King and Queen as well as Homecoming Prince and Princess. Juniors can only vote for Homecoming Prince and Princess. Seniors can only vote for Homecoming King and Queen.

To vote go to the Student Government Twitter account and open the link to the ballot. You must be signed into your P.K. Yonge Google account to be able to vote. Voting begins Monday September 10th and ends on Friday September 14th. The results will be announced during High Tide. Best of luck to everyone on Court!

All UNICEF club members please remember that our school cleaning day is this Tuesday after school. Please meet at Mrs. Santiago’s classroom.

Students who are taking virtual classes should be logging into those courses on a daily basis. If your status is classroom-assigned, you can begin working on your course, whether or not you have been contacted by your course instructor. Remember, you have certain deadlines to meet in order to remain enrolled in online classes. You should be 25% complete with segment 1 by September 14th.

High School Students:

Teachers and counselors will be hosting a meeting in the west side of the cafeteria on Tuesday, September 11th at 2:30 pm to discuss academic support for students. The agenda will include a conversation about how to best structure after school support and develop tutoring opportunities and programs on campus. High School students who are interested in developing an academic support or peer tutoring center at P.K. Yonge are invited to attend this meeting. Please join us in the cafeteria afterschool on Tuesday, September 11th if you are interested.
