Announcements, Monday 4/22

April 22, 2019

Today is Monday, April 22 and it is an A Day.

This week is Staff Appreciation Week.  There are many folks on campus who keep this place up and running. These include our front office staff, the business office staff, the building services team, the cafeteria team, our tech support folks, Mrs. V., Mr. Dodge, Grandma Weller, Mrs. Hutson, Mrs. Flinchum, Coach Brunson, Coach Stewart, Ms. Henderson, Nurse Brittany, our bus drivers, and Mr. Marski.  Please take a moment to thank them for their service to our school.

Wanna be a part of an award-winning family? Try out for the P. K. Yonge Colorguard!  Auditions will take place on Monday April 29th and Tuesday April 30th from 3-5:30 in the band room. See you there!

The football team will be holding tryouts for place kickers and punters, every Tuesday and Thursday in the month April. Soccer players are greatly encouraged to tryout. If you are interested, please come see Coach

McDonald or send him an email on Canvas. Kicking is a valuable skill set and a great way to be a part of the football team!

Seniors, please remember to fill out a “Final” transcript request form and turn in to Mrs. Flinchum or Ms. Bryen to have your transcript sent to the College you are going to attend.

Please come to the Black Student Union bake sale after school on Wednesday.  We will be down by the gym. Come and get your brownies, cookies, and other sweet treats!

On Friday, April 26, the students traveling to China will be hosting a Parents Night Out offering babysitting from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm in the I-wing.  The cost is $10 per child per hour. If you know of anyone (neighbors, teachers, family members) who are interested, please let them know. We will have the UF mobile planetarium and lots of games for the kids to enjoy while their parents enjoy some relaxing time.  Thanks for your support!

The Clinic will be closed today from 1-2 PM.

A tradition for P.K. Yonge to wrap up the school year is to have a little fun dressing up for each of the last 26 days of school.  Check out the link on the announcements page to see the fun ways we can all celebrate the last days of school, no matter what grade you’re in!  Let’s make this a school-wide event! The countdown begins next Thursday, April 25.

End of School Z-A Countdown

National Junior Honor Society is inviting you to join our “Trash Flash Mob” TODAY in honor of Earth Day.  Mrs. Beckett will be at middle school lunch with trash bags for anyone who would like to help pick up trash around the cafeteria to keep our school campus clean.  High school students, feel free to keep it clean during your lunch too.

The Cade Museum is currently recruiting high school volunteers ages 16 and older to be volunteers for our 2019 Summer Camp Volunteer Program. Volunteers will help to make our summer camps an engaging, positive learning experience for all participants. This is a great opportunity for high school students to get involved in the community as well as earn community service hours. Find an informational flyer on the announcements page. Applications are due April 30.

Attention Middle School Baseball Team:  Your bus leaves for Ft. White at 5 PM. Please be changed, have your gear, and be on the bus on time for a 5 PM departure.
