Good morning, Blue Wave.  Today is Monday, February 12th and it is a B Day!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Please join us in high-fiving the Varsity Girls Soccer team for their regional semi-final win over The Villages Friday night and their 20th consecutive win.  A big Blue Wave thanks to all the fans who came out to cheer them on!  Be sure to come out support the girls as they host Trinity Prep in the Regional Semi-Finals tomorrow at 7:00pm!

This week we will be celebrating our School Counselors, Ms. Antelis, Mrs. Ireland, Mr. Polanco-Lopez and Ms. Bryen.  Reach out and let your counselor know how much you appreciate them.

Attention 7th – 12th graders: Are you interested in performing poetry or spoken word? The 4th annual Alachua County-wide teen poetry showcase will be held on February 25th, 2018 at 5pm.  The goal is to have students across the county be highlighted for their poetic gifts.  Last year, several of you performed with the GHS poetry club and they would like you to join them again.  If you are interested, or need more information, please see Mrs. Koppitch in the library.

The P.K. Yonge Spring Musical, PIPPIN, opens this Friday and continues through February 24th.  Get your tickets online or in the business office.  Don’t miss this extraordinary show!

Make plans to attend the Dress Code Town Hall this Thursday or Friday in the library during Power Hour.  This is your opportunity to express your ideas and opinions to inform the revision of the Dress Code for next year.

Get down at the middle school dance on Friday from 3-5 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tickets are $3 in advance, $4 at the door, and will be on sale every day at middle school lunch, in front of the cafeteria.  Don’t delay, get yours today! Proceeds benefit the PK Marine Science club.

The National Junior Honor Society has accepted the challenge of helping to find a cure for blood cancer!  Over the next 2 weeks our school will be working to reach a goal of $1,000. If everyone at the school donates $1 we can reach this goal!  You can donate any amount (pennies, quarters or dollars). Donations for the Pennies for Patients campaign will be collected for your first period class. The first period class with the highest collection can win a celebration party if the school’s goal is reached.  Thanks in advance for your generosity!

Attention Seniors:

Senior sessions during power hour today will have a Santa Fe College Achievement Program Representative there to discuss this opportunity and explain the process with current seniors. CAP is a six-week summer enrichment experience designed for graduating seniors from Alachua and Bradford Counties. This transition allows for a smooth start in college once students begin in the fall.
