October 16, 2017

Good morning, Blue Wave.  Today is Monday, October 16th and it’s an A Day!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

From Dr. Geiger:

There has been some confusion around the requirements for student participation in the Pledge of Allegiance.  A consultation with UF’s General Counsel confirms that our policy is in line with State Law governing K-12 public schools.  Unless students have written permission from a parent or guardian, they are required to stand for the Pledge.  Students are not required to say the Pledge aloud. The diversity of our campus guarantees a wide range of beliefs related to this policy. It is my hope that we can respectfully tolerate varied opinions while meeting the legal requirements of a Florida public school. If you have further questions, please visit me at my Power Hour post near L and M wings.

Students participating in the Rosa Rabell scholarship need to turn in their scholarship applications in today during 1st period to Mrs. Santiago. Applications after 1st period will not be accepted.

All members participating in Poetry Out Loud. We will meet again on October 26th, you must come ready with two poems memorized and ready to present them.

All China travelers please come to K-330 (Mr. Magura’s room) tomorrow during power hour.

Ladies and Gentleman! Children of all ages!  Get your tickets NOW for the fall play, DRACULA!  Performances are October 26th-28th at 7:00 and 2:00 pm. Come to DRACULA, for the fright of your life!  Muah, ha, ha!

Juniors and Seniors! Look for an email coming your way regarding the free SAT in November for Alachua County students. If your parent/guardian does not receive this email and you would like to take advantage of the opportunity, please come see Ms. Bryen before October 25th.

One of the first activities of middle school ARK Club (acts of random kindness) was the kindness rock project.  If you find one of these rocks, we hope it brightens your day.  And we hope you pay it forward by relocating the rock to new location, off campus or on.   #PKYROCKS
