Today is Monday, October 29th and it is a B Day.

Congratulations to the Blue Wave Varsity Football Team for their triumph over Branford this past Friday night, making them undefeated at home this year. This win made senior nite for football, band, and the varsity cheerleader seniors all the more special.

Belated high fives to the girls cross country team, who placed 2nd at the district meet to advance to regionals. Top finishers were Laci Herron in 2nd and Juliette Palechor in 3rd. Ian Flores-Rodriguez finished second in the men’s race to qualify for regionals as well.

Finally, big Blue Waves of Congrats to the Marching Band for earning a superior rating at the Florida Bandmasters Association Performance Assessment on Saturday.

Attention Seniors:
The Edna M Hart Keeper of the Dream Scholarship is right around the corner. This scholarship is awarded to one Alachua County student every year and recognizes students who demonstrate strong community service, academics, and a commitment to the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. If you are interested, see Ms. Bryen for an application. The application is due THURSDAY, November 1st.

National Junior Honor Society will meet in Mrs. Beckett’s room, I-109, this Thursday November 1. This is an important planning meeting. Please bring your lunch.

Varsity Basketball cheerleading tryouts will be on Monday, November 5th from 3-6pm in K-327 (Mrs. Bainter’s Room). Please pick-up the tryout packet from the front office, Coach Barrett or cheer Coach Wantanisha Morant. Packets must be turned in to Coach Barrett’s mailbox by Monday, October 29th at 2:30pm.

There will be an interest meeting for anyone interested in track and field on TOMORROW right after school on the west side of the cafeteria.

There will be a volleyball pep bus TOMORROW heading to Jacksonville at 4pm for the Regional Final. Students must provide $7.00 and a signed permission slip to Dr. Geiger by Tuesday at biscuit break in order to have permission to be on the bus. At least 15 students need to sign-up or the bus will be cancelled. Permission slips can be picked up from the front office.

Wednesday is Halloween. If you choose to celebrate by wearing a costume, please remember the following guidelines:

  1. No masks
  2. Costumes must meet regular dress code requirements.
  3. We are a K-12 campus — Do not wear anything that would be too frightening to our youngest Blue Wave family members.
