February 28, 2022

Good morning! Today is Monday, February 28th.

We are looking forward to enjoying the Black Student Union’s annual presentation today.  Please listen carefully for important information about the event.

  • The Middle School Program will be from 12:30-1:15. You will be escorted to the PAC by your third period teacher. At the end of the show, you will report to 4th period. You should arrive in your fourth period class by 1:20 to avoid being marked tardy. If you indicated that you preferred to watch the show remotely, you will report to Dr. Weller’s room or Ms. Miley’s room on the second floor orange or green wing.  Your third period teacher will help you know which classroom is closest for you.
  • The High School Program will be from 1:30-2:30. Your fourth period teacher will escort you to the PAC, and you will be dismissed from there, so take your things with you.  If you indicated that you preferred to watch the show remotely, you will report to one of the following locations: 1st floor green, Ms. Brewster’s classroom in N wing, 3rd floor green or 3rd floor blue.  Your fourth period teacher will help you know which classroom space is best for you.

There will be a 6:30 PM BSU presentation for family members. All are welcome and admission is free.

The Black Student Union students have been working hard to provide these special presentations.  Please be respectful audience members.

Attention Dual Enrolled students, please go to the Q building business office to have your badges to leave campus made starting TODAY.

The Rotary Club of Gainesville’s 21st Annual Youth Speaker contest is approaching, and we are seeking students who wish to apply!

Contestants will present a five-minute speech based upon the Rotary International theme of “Serve to Change Lives”.  There will be a preliminary round of judging on March 14th. The deadline for registration is Today! Apologies for the late notice.

In addition to the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills in speaking, each of the three finalists will receive a plaque and a cash prize. The first-place prize is $500, second place is $300, and third place is $200. So, this is a great opportunity for young people.
