January 5, 2018

Good morning, Blue Wave.  Today is Friday, January 5th and today is an A Day!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday break and are excited to be back at school with your Bluewave family.  2018 will be the Year of Kindness at PKY.  Let’s commit to treating others with respect and care.

Speaking of kindness…

When we adjusted the lunch and power hour schedule to make up for some of the class time lost during Hurricane Irma, it inadvertently caused a five-minute overlap of middle school and high school lunch.  Therefore, high school lunch is beginning five minutes before middle school lunch ends.  PLEASE make this transition as kind as possible.  Middle school students, please relinquish the tables when you have finished eating so that the high school students have a place to dine.  High school students, please wait patiently until your tables of choice are vacated.  There is plenty of available seating.  There is no need for unkind or rude exchanges related to lunchtime seating. The expectation is for PKY students to treat each other kindly.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Due to the low temperatures today, several teachers have volunteered to open their classrooms as warm spaces before school and during Power Hour.  Look for signs on classrooms doors that say “Come on In!”  These teachers are willing to let you sit quietly in their classrooms before school and/or during Power Hour.  This is a BIG courtesy on the teachers’ part, so please show your gratitude by being on your best behavior.

Registration for second semester night school driver education at the Traffic Safety Center is now open. Please call 352-955-6959 to sign up. All pertinent information can found on the Alachua County Public School Website ( www.sbac.edu ). This is not the course offered during the day time with Coach Johnson here at P. K. Yonge, however P. K. Yonge students can take this course if they would like to. If you have any questions see Coach Johnson.

Thespian Club photo will be taken Monday, January 8 at 12:15 in front of the gym.

All members of GSA and Comic & Writing Club, please report to Ms. Cheveallier’s room during Power Hour on Tuesday, January 9 for club pictures.
