August 16, 2024Good morning, Blue Wave. Today is Friday, August 16th.
Morning Reminders
Student drivers – as you enter by the guard shack, you will make a left and proceed through the PAC parking lot to the north lot. Please be aware that traffic changes directions in the elementary circle after 8:30 am. Watch out for other drivers as you cross into the north lot and be aware of our littlest Blue Wave and their families on campus.
At 9:00 AM, all high school drivers should make their way from the top parking lot to the secondary building. No one should be in the parking lot after 9:00 AM.
After 6th-7th grade lunch, 6th grade students line up at the mosaic doors and 7th grade students need to line up at the main doors by the main office.
SG Freshmen Rep
Freshmen – would you like to be a student government representative? Applications are now open. Stop by the main office to pick up the application packet and get more information. All applications are due by today, August 16th. Once we have your applications, we will contact you about a time for an interview. Questions? See Mrs. Koppitch
Yearbook
Are you interested in being on Yearbook staff? Do you like being involved with the school, developing your leadership school, and taking pictures? Yearbook class will meet during zero period from 8-9 am Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. See Ms. Eubanks or a counselor to have it added to your schedule.
Middle school students interested in Yearbook should go see Ms. Devin for more information about being a middle school yearbook reporter.
Rising Tides Cancelled
Friday’s interest meeting for “Rising Tides” has been cancelled. Please contact Ms. Weber if you have any questions.
NHS
The first meeting for NHS will be Friday Aug 23 at lunch. This is for all current 11th and 12th graders. If you have any questions please see Dr. Bolejack.
Global Travel Photo Contest
Students, if you traveled outside of the United States during the summer, the Global Awareness Club wants to see your pictures. We will be recognizing and awarding prizes to the best pictures about: People. Places and Nature.
Please submit your photos to Mrs. Santiago at gsantiago@pkyonge.ufl.edu. All photos must be submitted before Friday, August 23. Please see Mrs. Santiago at L-356 if you have questions.
Peer Tutoring
Attention all high school students: Do you want to earn volunteer hours while helping another student succeed? Join Peer Tutoring. For all interested students, including those who have already spoken to Ms. Roach, please attend our first Peer Tutoring meeting this Friday, August 16, during lunch in Ms. Roach’s room Blue 312.
NEHS
Do you enjoy reading and writing? Are you interested in scholarships related to ELA? There will be an interest/ information meeting for grades 10-12 for the National English Honors Society (NEHS) before school at 8:45am on 8/21 in Ms. Franklin’s room 336 Green. All previous and prospective members are invited to attend.
Willie the Wave Auditions
ATTENTION HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS! Student Government will be hosting auditions for Willie the Wave next week Tuesday August 20th at 8:30AM in first floor green. Willie the Wave is our Blue Wave mascot and will be required to attend most athletics events. Be prepared with a cheer and come with spirit! Volunteer hours will be given to the student who is chosen. If you are interested please meet us in first floor green Tuesday morning! Cross Country Car Wash
Our cross country team is having a car wash this Saturday, August 17 from 7:30 am- 12:30 pm at Grace at Ft Clarke Church off Newberry Rd. Please come and show your support!
