Today is Friday, August 24, and it is an A Day.  

Students who are taking virtual classes should be logging into those courses on a daily basis.  If your status is classroom-assigned, you can begin working on your course, whether or not you have been contacted by your course instructor.  Remember, you have certain deadlines to meet in order to remain enrolled in online classes. You should be 25% complete with segment 1 by September 14th.

P.K. Yonge’s College and Career and Fair will be held on August 29, 2018 from 2:00-3:30 PM on the main sidewalk running from the creek to the gym. There will be over 20 post-secondary institutions in attendance where you can speak to admissions representatives and learn critical information about their application process, due dates and deadlines, application criteria, majors, academic programs, and much much more! No RSVP is needed and you only need to bring yourself; any additional materials will be provided!

If you missed locker sign ups in the cafeteria, you can come to the front office before or after school to request a locker.

Please remember you must have your parking pass by TODAY.   They cost $25 and can be purchased in the business office.

If you are tardy to school or class, please report to the tardy kiosk closest to your location — either the front office or the ISD room located in K331.

The 2018 Hispanic Heritage Month essay and art contests for K-12 students is now open.  Please visit: Volunteerflorida.org for more details.

Lost and Found is now located in the front office.  Items will be donated each month, so if you lose something, ask about it right away. Found Lunch boxes and other food-related items will be placed on the hallway shelf in the lunchroom. There are MANY lunchboxes in the cafeteria.  Please claim yours if you lost it!

If you are interested in belonging to the Cultural Awareness Club, please meet us this Friday during lunch. Our meetings are the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month.

UNICEF club meetings will start next week on Friday during lunch.

FROM THE CAFETERIA:

Please make sure you recycle the lunch black trays. They are melted down and picture frames and other items are made from them.

Existing members of Mu Alpha Theta will meet in Mr. Bice’s room on Friday  during lunch. We will elect officers and discuss plans for the year.

Habitat for Humanity Club will have our first meeting with members on August 31st during lunch in Mr. DeLeon’s class.

ATHLETICS

We are excited about kicking off the 2018 BlueWave football season at home tonight.  We will pump up our team and gear up for our first victory at a Pep Rally at the end of the school day.   There will be a contest to see which class shows the most spirit by wearing designated colors:

o   Seniors – blue

o   Juniors – white

o   Sophomores – orange

o   Freshmen –  gray

 

Middle School Students — wear PKY colors of your choice.

BLUEWAVE BASEBALL:

Fall Ball will start on September 4th for JV/Varsity and on September 5th for Middle School.  The JV/Varsity Combo team will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30; the Middle School Team will practice on Wednesdays from 2:00-4:00. All players must have a current Sports Physical on file with Coach Barrett by September 4th.  If you have any questions, see Coach Brunson.

On Thursday August 30th at 2:30pm there will be a Softball Interest Meeting in the stands at the baseball field. Any middle or high school student who wants to play softball this fall and spring must come to this meeting. Practice for Fall Ball will begin on September 4th at 2:45. If you are unable to make the meeting for any reason or if you have any questions please see Coach Ryan in ISD In Room K331.

Anyone interested in playing girls soccer please come to the interest meeting on Tuesday, August 28th right  after school in Mr. Kovach’s room, Z-1153.

Attention PK Yonge high schoolers. Do you love plants? Have you ever wanted to start a garden at home for flowers, herbs, or vegetables? Well a new club this year is focusing on that! Gardening (or Horticulture) Club is a club focused on how to make a productive garden or landscape at home that’s not only beautiful, but safe for the Florida climate and ecosystem. Meetings are Thursdays after school in Dr.Breil’s room in the art building, so we hope to see you there!
