Announcements, Friday, 12/14

December 14, 2018

Today is Friday, December 14th and it is a 1-6 Day.

Good morning PK students. The College Information and Readiness Club is asking that all our SENIORS, who have college acceptances letters, to fill out the survey, which has been sent through your Remind/SMS from Mr Lightbourne.

If you have not yet ordered your 2018-19 yearbook, reserve a copy today at the early bird rate of $70 and guarantee yourself a copy. Prices will increase after December 31 to $80. Senior yearbook ads are also available for purchase. A senior ad is a dedicated section of the yearbook specifically for you. Your parents may purchase an ad online, and we strongly recommend that the ads be ordered sooner rather than later so we can start them ASAP. Once your ad has been purchased, we will email your parents a form to gather ad information regarding their son or daughter. Ads will be available for purchase until January 31. See the announcements page on the website to click on the link to reserve a copy of the yearbook or senior add.  Your 2018-19 Yearbook Team thanks you for your support.

Attention Track & Field:  Track and Field Conditioning will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays after school instead of Tuesday and Thursday until the holiday break.

Football banquet tickets are on sale for $8 each. Everyone must have a ticket to attend. Players are free, guests must purchase one. Please see coach McDonald in his classroom for tickets before Wednesday the 19th. Tickets will not be sold after that date.

Hey, students!  Do you want to hear your teacher sing “The 12 Days of Christmas” over the announcements on the last day before Winter Break?  Bring any amount of money and put it in your favorite (or, maybe, not so favorite) teacher’s container. You can put in paper money or coins – it doesn’t matter – the teacher who has the most money in their container will be singing on the morning announcements.  The trio will include one elementary teacher, one middle school teacher, and one high school teacher. Make sure you fill those containers to make your teachers sing!

It’s time for our Toys for Tots toy drive!  P.K. Yonge’s National Honor Society is teaming up with the United States Marine Corps to collect toys for underprivileged children this holiday season.  We would like to provide a happy holiday for as many children as possible this year – and your generosity will help that happen! Please bring in NEW, UNOPENED, AND UNWRAPPED toys by TODAY. Bring them to the collection boxes in the front office.

There is a TON of stuff in lost and found.  Please claim your items in front of the cafeteria during lunch TODAY.  Everything will be donated to charity after TODAY.

If you are interested in joining a jazz band, please attend the interest meeting in the band room at 12:15 on Tuesday, December 18th.  Those who participate will earn a half credit. Membership is open to 8th through 12 grade students.

Congratulations to the Boys’ Middle School soccer team who beat Lafayette 4-1.  They ended their season with 4 wins and 1 tie out of 6 games. Not bad for the first Middle School soccer season at PKY!

All members of the Global Awareness club and UNICEF please remember that TODAY is the last day to bring the coloring books and crayons for the children.

Attention Project LIT book club members – high school book club will meet during lunch TODAY in Mr. Kovach’s room.  Middle school book club will meet during lunch TODAY in Mrs. Flake’s room. Bring your book and we will have the next book for you!

The scholarship newsletter for December is now available on the P.K. Yonge School Counseling Website and will available on the School Counseling Twitter by this weekend. There are lots of opportunities open until early January, so winter break is a great time to send in applications to help with future college tuition!

Remember, exams are next week, and the school days will be shorter.  Monday you will attend periods 1 & 2, Tuesday, periods 3 & 4, and Friday periods 5 & 6.  The school day will end at 11:50 each day. Grab and go lunches will be available for Middle and High School Students.  The cafeteria study hall will be open until 5 PM on Monday and Tuesday, but on Wednesday, the campus will close at 3:30 PM.  Please make arrangements to be off campus at that time.
