Good morning, Blue Wave.  Today is Friday, October 13th and it is a B Day!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

All National Honor Society members, there will be a mandatory meeting on Monday, October 16, in Dr. Weller’s classroom during power hour. Please be in attendance and make sure to bring your dues for this year. Dues need to be turned in to Dr. Weller as soon as possible.

All SADD members: There will be two meetings next week, Monday 10/16 and Thursday, 10/19.  All members please attend as we will be prepping for Red Ribbon Week on Oct 23-27.

Interested in the outdoor spaces on campus? Share your ideas in Dr. Breil’s room, N-382 during power hour Monday October 16. UF Landscape Architecture students will lead us through re-imagining our campus.

High school students:  Thespian Club will be hosting the DRACULA’S BALL DANCE, today at 3:00pm in the PAC.  All students grades 9-12 are invited. Admission is $5.00 at the door.

Tri-M club- please sign up to usher for DRACULA  on the sign up sheet  posted outside the high school choral room.

Middle and High School students are invited to participate in the fourth annual Holocaust Reflection Contest sponsored by Nova Southeastern University and the Holocaust Learning and Education Fund, Inc.   Visit nova.edu/holocaustcontest to view last year’s winning entries.  Contest entries will be accepted online between December 1, 2017 and January 21, 2018. Parental approval forms are required to participate.   For more information, see the poster in the front office window.

Last year PKY launched PK Health Smart in collaboration with some UF partners.  We will continue to work this year toward two goals:  Drinking more water and eating healthier snacks.  There will be Health Smart activities sprinkled throughout the year to help us improve in our goal areas.  Be healthy, Blue Wave.

All members participating in Poetry Out Loud. We will meet again on October 26, you must come ready with two poems memorized and ready to present them.

All China travelers please come to K-330 (Mr. Magura’s room) Tuesday 10/17 during power-hour.  Thank you.

Students participating in the Rosa Rabell scholarship need to turn in their scholarship applications on Monday, October 16 during 1st period to Mrs. Santiago. Applications after 1st period will not be accepted.

All French Club members are invited to meet during High School Power Hour in Mr. Moody’s room, N371.

School Counseling:

The October Scholarship Newsletter is available! There are many scholarships for seniors, so please visit the PK Yonge website or the School Counseling Twitter to take a look!

Juniors and Seniors! Look for an email coming your way regarding the free SAT in November for Alachua County students. If your parent/guardian does not receive this email and you would like to take advantage of the opportunity, please come see Ms. Bryen before October 25th.

Today the library is open for 12th graders.

 Athletics:

 Congratulations to the varsity golf team for placing 2nd in the Alachua County Golf Tournament.  Jake Davis won the tournament with 2 over par. Good luck at Districts on Monday Blue Wave Golf.

 Boys soccer conditioning will start today at 2:45pm.  Meet at the picnic tables by the portables.

 Girls’ soccer try-outs will be held on Monday 10/16 and Tuesday 10/17 on the top field from 3pm – 4:30pm.
