Good morning! Today is Friday, February 17th.  BLACK HISTORY FACT!  Our own Coach Powers’ dad, Willie Fred Powers, was a member of the Gainesville Eagles, a decorated Negro baseball league in our area. You can see an historical marker for The Ballpark, the location at which many local baseball games were played. This marker is less than a mile from PK off Depot Avenue in the Porters Community. 

Godspell

Come see Godspell! Prepare ye for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love constructed as a group of parables based on the Gospel of Matthew and filled with favorite songs such as “Day by Day” and “We Beseech Thee” this a joyous celebration of friendship, love and devotion to high ideals. GODSPELL is a show for everyone. The show runs from Wednesday, February 15th -Saturday, February 18th. All at 7pm

Tickets are on sale  in the homestead app. Look for posters around campus with a QR code to purchase.

K/1 Coffee

Reminder for all middle and high school students that the K/1 coffee company will be selling hot coffee, cold brew, and hot chocolate for $5.00 by the student parking lot. Cash only. Every Friday. 

Thanks for Candygrams

Thank you to all those who participated in the Valentine’s Day Candy Gram fundraiser. The PK NHS and NJHS raised over $500 which will be donated to support earthquake relief for communities in Turkey and Syria.

Blood Drive

The PK National Honor Society is hosting a LifeSouth Blood Drive today on campus. Students who signed up in advance should go to the Bloodmobile in front of the gym at their appointment time. Teachers, please check your email for a list of excused students. Thank you to all who donate today.

Black History Spirit Week 

Next week, Feb. 21st-24th, is Black History Month Spirit Week! The Spirit Days are as follows:

Tues. Feb. 21st: African Cultural Attire Day

Wed. Feb. 22nd: HBCU Apparel Day

Thurs. Feb 23rd: Melanin Thursday (Wear Shades of Brown)

Fri. Feb. 24th: Black Friday (Wear ALL Black).

In final preparation for the Black History Month Show, the Black Student Union will have an important meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 21st, during High School Lunch in Ms. Hemmerich’s room. All members and program participants are asked to attend.
