Today is Tuesday, September 25, and it is a B Day.

Congratulations to the Varsity Volleyball team who defeated Williston last night 3 games to 1.  Ashawna Smith had 6 aces and Jordan Czaplewski had 4. Ashawna led the team with 15 kills followed by Ga’Leisha Miller with 9 kills. Sarah Stedman led the team with 8 digs.  Come out and support the team next Tuesday versus Newberry at 6:30pm.

Attention Seniors: Please check your canvas course for senior project announcements and to make an appointment with your advisor.  Remember, you have to have your advisor’s approval on your Inquiry BEFORE you submit it on October 6th.

High school students, are you interested in learning about the brain and competing in this years Brain Bee at UF?  Bring your lunch to N-382, which is Dr. Breil’s room, to learn more TOMORROW at lunch.

There will be a high school National Honor Society meeting next week on Monday, September 30th in Dr. Harris’s room in the PAC during high school lunch. If you have any questions, please see or email Dr. Weller.

Reminder:  Picture day for middle and high school is TOMORROW!

Science Olympiad will meet Thursday after school until 3:15 in Q-502. Members should bring their permission forms to the meeting.

Tri-M Music Honor Society will meet after school on Friday, September 27th at 2:30. This after school meeting time will accommodate all dual-enrollment music students. See Dr. Harris with any questions.

High school students interested in photographing the 34th Street Wall on our Friday field trip please stop by Ms. Johnson’s room for your permission slip. We will leave right after school. Remember to bring spray paint!

This is the final week of Key Club’s hurricane relief drive. Please bring in donations of baby items, metal nails, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, blankets, batteries, canned goods, and gallons of water to Mr. Lemstrom or Ms. Andrews by Friday.

Acts of Random Kindness club is sponsoring Start with Hello Week activities (Sept 23rd – 27th).  The purpose is to maximize the feelings of community and connection that PKY is known for.

Everyone !! Wear an article of clothing that displays something that is important to you. Reach out to classmates you do not know well to learn more about their clothing choice during lunch, in the hall, or after school.

Thursday:
Random act of Kindness Day
Go out of your way to do something nice for someone else.

Start With Hello Wall
Write your favorite conversation starters on the banner in the cafeteria during lunch.

There will be a Black Student Union meeting on TODAY at 1:50p.m. in Mr. Courtney’s Classroom, H-123.

Over the weekend, the girls cross country team came in 1st on Saturday at the Villages Buffalo Invitational.  Juliette Palechor came in 3rd and Laci Herron 4th, followed by Talia Herron, Ellie and Paulina Cervantes, Jocelyn Riley, Riley Blackwelder, Anastasja Fernandez Smith, Haley Romrell, and Madison Ritsema.The boys cross country team was led by Ian Rodriguez who came in 19th overall with 18:34, followed by Tucker Fetko 21:08, Davis Garrett 22:49, and a personal best by Bryce Beckett.  More recently, the girls cross country team came in a close 2nd losing by only 4 points to Mantazas at the Interlachen Invitational last night.  Juliette Palechor came in 2nd, Laci Herron 4th, Talia Herron 12th, with Ellie and Paulina Cervantes tying for 13thplace.  Riley Blackwelder ran a season best, while Nadia Kramer, Haley Romrell, Madison Ritsema, and Anastasja Fernandez Smith contributed to the team’s solid finish. The boys had strong showings from Ian Rodriguez 13th place, a season bests for William Dietrich and Colin Penton, and a person best for Bryce Beckett.  Tucker Fetko, Davis Garrett, Michael Dietrich, Blake Firsching, and Luke Kovach also contributed to the team’s strong showing

All Poetry Out loud members and students interested in participating in Poetry Out Loud, please see Mrs. Santiago this Thursday during lunch.

Tonight is Blue Wave Meet & Greet for Middle and High School.  This is our remixed Open House and it will be much cooler! From 5:30-6:00, check out the Club Showcase in the cafeteria, hear a Rock Band and the Pep Band perform. There will be food and snacks available to purchase:  Coach Powers is firing up his grill, Hispanic Honor Society will be selling pizza, the snowcone machine will be pumping out frosty treats and Gator BTW restaurant will be serving fresh food with some vegetarian options.  There will be performances in the PAC, the Roaring Riptide will be demonstrating their robot near M wing, and the Cheerleaders will be showing their best moves near the anchor. From 6:00-7:00 your teachers will be in their classrooms to meet your families and engage in friendly conversations.  You will NOT be handed a schedule and you will NOT be required to visit all 6 of your classes. This is a choose-your-own-adventure kind of event. Middle Schoolers, please encourage your families to park on the north end of campus. High schoolers, please encourage your families to park at the south end. Hope to see you tonight!
