About Accreditation

October 7, 2021

Accreditation is a process that takes place every five years and is designed to support and promote institutional and systems improvement in service of students. Accreditation requires educational institutions to evaluate their vision, strategies, priorities, leadership, programs, and resources. P.K. Yonge is accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancEd), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Accreditation is essential. The process supports a school’s commitment to excellence, promotes continuous improvement focused on student success, requires critical analysis of teaching and learning practices, evaluates allocation of resources, incorporates multiple perspectives on a school’s performance, defines areas for growth and development, and provides information on which families can base decisions about their students’ education.

P.K. Yonge underwent accreditation in 2016 and will be completing the accreditation process again in 2021. Members of the P.K. Yonge community (students, families, faculty & staff) should expect to receive a survey during the month of October, the results from which will be analyzed, evaluated during the accreditation team visit in February, 2022 and incorporated into P.K. Yonge final accreditation report.
