Good morning, Blue Wave. Today is Tuesday, May 8^th and it is an A Day!

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Today is R day, be sure to wear red or dress like a rainbow! Tomorrow is Q day, be sure to wear a crown like a Queen.

Health Smart Tip of the Day: If possible, pack your lunch a few days a week instead of buying lunch at the cafeteria. This can help you save money and make healthy food choices before your hunger and cravings kick in at lunch time. Include fruits, vegetables, and protein in your lunch to give you energy for the rest of the day.

Do you want to spend your summer diving into springs and exploring swamps? Do you want to empower yourself as leader for Florida’s environment and communities? Join the Young Leaders for Wild Florida, a two-week environmental leadership summer program for teens in Alachua County. If you are ages 16-19 and interested please visit Walk for Wild Florida’s website and select Young Leadersfor Wild Florida.

Campaigning for Student Council offices continues today. Please respectfully campaign for your accepted offices until Monday May 14^th using flyers, posters, and social media. Remember—you cannot change the office that you are running for after Wednesday, May 9^th. All speeches must be shared as a google doc on Wednesday May 9^th.

The application process for all sixth and seventh grade students interested in becoming a member of the National Junior Honor Society is open. The requirements include a cumulative 3.4 GPA for 7th grade students and proficient in all core classes for 6th grade students. Interested students must complete an application form that is available on the club page of the school website. Students can also get an application for directly from Dr. Cordero or Dr. Breil. The application is due Friday, May 18th.

The Hispanic Honor Society will be selling Hispanic Food during the Art Festival May 10^th. Be sure to stop by and get some good food!

Seniors:

Seniors, please vote for the Master of Ceremonies at graduation!

There is a link on Mr. Bice’s class page, Mr. Beyer’s class page, on Mr. Fabulich’s class page, as well as the Upperclassmen Page on the website. The system is set up to monitor that each student only votes once. You will need your PK Yonge Google login information in order to access the link. Voting is open now and ends on May 9^th. The MC will be announced at the Senior Awards night on May 14^th.

Water day is Friday, May 18^th, the last day of AP exams. (it is not this Friday)

The End of the Year Scholarship Newsletter is available! Please visit the P.K. Yonge School Counseling Page or the School Counseling twitter to take a look.

Seniors, please remember to fill out a “Final” transcript request form and turn in to Mrs. Flinchum or Ms. Bryen to have your transcript sent to the College you are going to attend.

Power Hour:

There will be a Key Club meeting during high school Power Hour today. We will be pinning seniors and voting on officers for next year. All members, please plan to attend.

The National Junior Honor Society will meet today during power hour in Dr. Cordero’s room.

All students currently in 8-10^th grade interested in traveling to Europe in the Summer of 2020, please see Mrs. Santiago in room Z-1427, this week during Power and come to our meeting on May 10 with your parents from 6-7 pm.
