Clubs:

The Speech and Debate Team will have an interest meeting today at 1:45pm for all interested students in the library back room. Anyone who is interested in joining the Speech and Debate team should plan on attending this meeting. Information about being involved in the club will be passed out, and all of the upcoming activities will be discussed. If you have any questions you can see Mr. Lightbourne in the library or email him at tlightbourne@pky.ufl.edu We hope to see you at the meeting!

National Junior Art Honors Society Will meet Wednesday in Ms. Johnson’s room during middle school Power Hour. Please enter the classroom through the back door to the Middle School Art room.

Students going to N Building during lunch and Power Hour please use the back doors for 7th and 8th Grade Science classrooms and for Middle and High School Art.

WaveRunner members! Our next meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:45 am in the ISD Office. Please come ready to input ideas and grow your skills!

First SADD (Student Against Destructive Decisions) meeting of the year is being held tomorrow during power hour in Coach Hazan’s room, Z-1429.  Everyone and anyone is welcome.

The National Honor Society meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, August 28th during Power Hour in Dr. Weller’s room, M350. This year’s membership is posted outside her room.

Performing Arts:

Auditions for Dracula! are tomorrow, Thursday August 24th, starting at 2:45 PM. Sign up for an audition time using the sign-up link on our school website Thespians page. Scripts and audition materials are available in J-309.

Power Hour:

Middle and high school students are invited to comic and writing club with Club President Emma Habeck every Monday in Ms. Cheveallier’s room, K324 during Power Hour and lunch.

The Blue Wave Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) will be meeting for the first time this year on Friday during Power Hour and lunch in Ms. Cheveallier’s room, K-324.

For those students who wish to come to the library during power hour, please be aware of the following:

  • For the first half, from 11:45-12:15, only high school students may be in the library.  For the second half, from 12:15-12:45, only middle school students may be in the library.
  • When you are in the library, please:
  • Everyone sits in a chair – no standing around or on the floor
  • Clean up/move chairs back when you leave
  • No games on the computers
  • If you are watching/listening to something on a device, use headphones
  • No food or drinks
  • Phones on silent and take phone calls outside of the library

Socrates’ Corner, an informal club dedicated to knowledge of ethics and philosophy, will meet in Mr. Lemstrom’s classroom, L-356, during high school lunch. The first meeting is today. We hope to see you there!

 Athletics:

The P.K. Yonge Swimming & Diving team have a meet today against Eastside.  The meet will begin at 5:00pm. Good luck Blue Wave Swimming & Diving!

Students wishing to park in the gym parking lot must purchase a parking pass in the business office by this Friday.  Your pinkish colored parking pass must be prominently displayed in the front window of the vehicle.

Dual-enrolled students and high school student interns who wish to park on the gravel lot must purchase a black and white parking pass in the business office.
