Announcements – Monday, August 12

August 12, 2024

Good morning, Blue Wave. Welcome back to school! Today is Monday, August 12th.

Dr. Geiger has a first day of school message for everyone.

“Good morning, everyone.  I trust that you have had a wonderful start to your first day of school.

A few reminders: There will be no bells to dismiss you from classes.  You will be dismissed by your teachers. When you are walking through academic spaces, keep your noise level to a minimum in case other classes are finishing up before they have been dismissed. Speaking of academic spaces, your cell phones, and other devices such as earbuds, should be silenced and put away in your backpack when you are in instructional spaces; cell phones should not be in hoodies or pockets, and they should not be taken to the restroom. This cell phone policy follows state law.

Speaking of state law:  Each public school is required to recite the Pledge of Allegiance daily and to hold a moment of silence.  As public school students, you are expected to honor these requirements.  You must stand for the Pledge unless your parent provides written permission excusing you from standing; you are not required to recite the Pledge.  The moment of silence is expected to be just that – silent.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.”

Morning Clarifications

Here are some clarifications and tweaks to our morning procedures:

6th and 7th Grade Students, we are making a small change.  If you are having school breakfast, report to the cafeteria. When you are finished eating, move to the front of the school near the metal sculptures to wait for the start of the school day.  If you are not eating breakfast, you will immediately go to the front area outside the main office where the metal sculptures are.

The first bell will ring at 8:55; this is the signal for grades 6 & 7 to enter the building.  6 & 7 graders will enter through the main office doors – closest to Mrs. V’s desk.

Grade 8-12 students, you will wait in the cafeteria area each morning before school.  You will enter through the mosaic doors (the doors closest to the creek and the colorful glass windows). This door will unlock at 9:05 so that you can get to class by 9:10.

At 9:00 AM, all high school drivers should make their way from the top parking lot to the secondary building.  No one should be in the parking lot after 9:00 AM.

Freshmen – SG Representative

Freshmen – would you like to be a student government representative? Applications are now open. Stop by the main office to pick up the application packet and get more information. All applications are due by THIS FRIDAY, August 16th. Once we have your applications, we will contact you about a time for an interview. Questions? See Mrs. Koppitch

Thespians

Thespians will be having their first meeting on Thursday, August 15 in the Front Room of the PAC during HS lunch. You will be voting on the officers who will represent you at District 12 meeting in late August.

Yearbook

Are you interested in being on Yearbook staff? Do you like being involved with the school, developing your leadership school, and taking pictures? Yearbook class will meet during zero period from 8-9 am Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. See Ms. Eubanks or a counselor to have it added to your schedule.

Please pause for a moment of silence:

Please stand for the pledge:

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Have a great day Blue Wave!
