Black History Month Fact

Happy Black History Month P.K.! Today’s Black history fact is: Educator and abolitionist Lucy Stanton was the first Black woman to graduate from college. She completed a ladies’ literary program and graduated from Oberlin College in 1850. Her commencement speech was an appeal for anti-slavery. 

Congrats Girls and Boys Soccer

Congratulations to the girls varsity soccer for their eight to nothing shut out over Keystone Heights last night in their regional quarterfinals matchup. They advance to play Maclay at home Friday at 7 PM. 

Boys soccer also won last night in a 4-0 shut out in their first round of regional play, giving Boys soccer the first quarterfinal win in 13 years! They will advance to play Maclay in Tallahassee on Friday at 7 PM.

Way to go, Blue Wave Soccer!

Congrats Girls Tennis

Congratulations to the Girls Tennis team on their 7-0 victory over Seven Rivers last night. Good luck to the girls as they face Newberry on Thursday, February 8 at 3:30pm at Westside. 

Girls Basketball

Girls Basketball hosts Bradford today for their first round of districts tonight at 7 pm. Fans can purchase tickets on the GoFan app. 

Gym Closing Afterschool

The basketball gym will close today and tomorrow after school in order to prep for boys and girls basketball districts. 

School Counseling Week

Today is day 3 of school counseling week.  School Counselors assist students with career development by seeking opportunities for them to gain career awareness, exploration and immersion. Studies have shown that students who participate in career development have a significant understanding of career possibilities, better self-efficacy and increased school engagement.  We appreciate you, Mrs. McElroy, Mrs. Walker, and Mrs. Bogart. 

MS Girls Basketball Scrimmage at UF Basketball

Come out and watch the middle school girls basketball team scrimmage at halftime at the UF Women’s Basketball Game on Thursday, February 8 as we celebrate National Women and Girls in Sports Day! Portions of the tickets help support PK. 

DECA

Softball Needs Team Manager

Attention high school student: The softball team is looking for a team manager to support the team, help with equipment, take photos, and provide general assistance.  If you are interested in applying, please email Coach Mosely or come out to the practice from 4-6 PM on the softball field.  EMAIL:  darylmosley@ufl.edu.

BSU club members’ pictures will be taken on Thursday, February 8th. Please gather at the club meeting location for the photos.

Candy Gram 

Get your friend or valentine a special candy gram. Candy grams will be $2.00 and will be delivered Feb 14. They go on sale at both lunches next week. Need to know the 8th period or 4th period teacher.

Senior Parking Spaces

Seniors, please remember that your senior parking space is available to anyone who wants to park in it after 8 AM – just one more reason to be get to school on time.

Grad Bash

Grad Bash is here! Here are a few important things you need to know:

  • P.K. will be going on Saturday, April 13th.
  • We will leave P.K. at 4 p.m. and return the next morning at 4:30 a.m.
  • Cost is $105/student and includes travel by charter bus. 
  • This is a special event, so season passes are not accepted.
  • There are 2 forms that must be signed by your parent/guardian and returned to the business office when you purchase your ticket.  You will NOT be allowed to go without these signed forms.
  • The forms are available in the main office and also posted in the canvas course announcements and senior newsletter.
  • Tickets go on sale Thursday, February 1st, and are due Friday, March 1st. We have to submit our ticket order to Universal, so late orders cannot be accepted.
  • The business office will be accepting payments M-F at 7:30-8 am, 12:30-1 pm, and 2:30-3 pm. You may pay with check or credit card.

Dual Enrollment

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Are you interested in dual enrollment?  There will be a dual enrollment information night, February 13 @ 5:30 p.m. in the green wing commons area.  An adviser from the UF dual enrollment office and Mrs. McElroy will be providing information about the dual enrollment application process. We hope to see you and your parent at the meeting.
