Congrats Boys Soccer
Congratulations to boys soccer for their 2-0 win over Trinity Catholic last night. They advance to the District Finals on Wednesday night at 7 pm. Way to go, Blue Wave! You make us proud!
Congrats Caleb and Xion
Congrats to senior Caleb Little and 8th Grader Xion Thomas! Caleb was this year’s winner for the 2024 Sunshine State Book Festival Essay Contest and Xion won 3rd place.
Congrats Summer Barnett
The Gainesville Sun has started a high school Student of the Week feature that is similar to our Athlete of the Week feature in Sports. Alachua County high schools can nominate one student each week, and the community can vote.
Congratulations to our first winner, Summer Barnett from P.K. Yonge, who got 300 votes (54 percent.) According to the school’s nomination form, Summer “boasts an impressive record of over 550 hours of community service. Not only is she an outstanding athlete who excels in basketball, she also shines academically. She represents the best of the Blue Wave student body!”
Congrats SHPE
Congratulations to the students who competed at the SHPE JR Competition at UF last Friday.
Esther Cruz and Santiago Murillo, their team won the Civil Engineering: Cardboard Bridge. Andres Davila for winning the coding Spotify APP.
Peer Tutors
Attention all Peer Tutors and any high school student interested in becoming a Peer Tutor. We will have a meeting in Ms. Roach’s room, 312, during lunch on Wednesday, January 31st. We will be taking our yearbook group photo, ordering t-shirts, and voting for officers. Please check your Canvas inbox for more information.

Summer Research Program
Attention Junior and Seniors:
Are you interested in a summer internship program? The National Institute of Aging is offering an Intramural Research Program.
The Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research offers a unique opportunity for high school, college and graduate and medical students to develop skills in scientific research. The application period for Summer 2024 is Open. Application Deadline for Summer 2024 is February 16, 2024 at 12 Noon Eastern Standard Time.

Thespians
Thespian Club will meet for a club photo on Thursday Feb. 1st during HS lunch in Hemmerich’s Room.

Senior Ads
Seniors! It’s time to buy your senior ads, seniors will have an opportunity to buy a quarter page, a half page, or a full page ad in the yearbook. The last day to purchase senior ads will be February first. The information to purchase ads have been sent out to parents’ emails and they are located in your senior canvas page.
Summer Performing Arts Scholarship
