Thank You! 

Thank you to everyone who came out to participate in yesterday’s Cultural Fair. It was awesome! There was singing and dancing, games and craft making, and many delicious foods! If you missed Dr. Geiger’s chicken and rice, I feel sorry for you! A big shout out to Senora Santiago for arranging the whole thing and for all the club members and club sponsors who collaborated to produce such a wonderful event! Planning for next year is already underway.  You won’t want to miss the next Cultural Fair!

Congrats Boys Soccer

Here are the results from last night’s soccer matches:

PK Yonge JV Boys Soccer tied with Crescent City 1-1 with a goal from Gabriel Blanco, assisted by Owen Rose. 

PK Yonge Varsity Boys Soccer beat Crescent City 3-1 with a goal from Addisu, assisted by Chris; a goal from Leif; and a goal from Nate, assisted by Chris.

Peer Tutors 

Attention Peer Tutors,

Please meet in Ms. Roach’s room during lunch on Thursday, November 9th for meeting.

Food Drive 

The annual food drive will be held starting next week. Please bring in any nonperishable items and deliver them to your grade level box. Middle school boxes will be in their wings and high school boxes will be on the first floor. All food donated will go to the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank. The middle grade and high school grade with the most items will win a popsicle party.

Clay Electric Youth Tour

Juniors, are you looking to build your resume for college application?  Clay Electric has sponsored a Youth Tour to Washington, DC Contest.  The program provides one 11th grade student from 30 different high schools the opportunity to represent their school in a contest consisting of a written quiz and speech contest, all expenses paid.  One PK Yonge student will be selected to go to Tallahassee for an all-expense paid trip to visit the capital and compete in the contest.   The winner of the speech contest and written exam will travel to Washington, D.C. for an all-expense paid trip.  You will meet legislators and tour historic places.  For more information, see Mrs. McElroy or Ms. Corbin.

Senior Community Service 

Seniors – there are SEVERAL opportunities to get your community service hours right now. Check the senior canvas course announcements, or the senior newsletter, for more details. Remember, you need all 75 by April 1st!

Guess the Jar

Attention Middle and High school students, The Odyssey of the Mind club will be holding a fundraising event during Middle and High School Lunch during the week of November 13th through 17th.

Come Guess to win a prize at the estimation Jars.  $1.00 Dollar per guess, you could win a Jar full of goodies or have multiple guesses and win more. A table will be set up in front of the cafeteria during both lunch times.

Winners will be announced  at the end of the day Friday, November 17. 

Winter Guard

Winter Guard auditions will take place on Tuesday, Nov 14th, and Thursday 16th, from 3-5 pm in the band room.  Winter Guard consists of dance performance using flags, rifles, and sabers.  No experience necessary!  There will be a JV and Varsity team open to middle school and high school students.  You might be accustomed to seeing the guard with the marching band, however, the Winter Guard is a group that rehearses and competes after the fall marching band season, and although related, is separate from the band.  Auditions are Tuesday, Nov 14th, and Thursday, Nov 16th. Contact Mr. Marski or Mrs. Burg if you have questions.  Hope to see you there.

PKY Unplugged

Come see your peers at PKY Unplugged present their bands and talents! The cost is $3 or three canned goods. PKY Unplugged is Nov 15 from 7-9pm. Tickets are on sale at lunch, at the door or through Hometown Ticket App.

Lemonade Stand 

Are you feeling parched? Are you hungry after school? Come support your FTC Robotics Team and buy lemonade and chips after school Oct 30th– Nov 10. Lemonade will be $3.00 and Chips will be $1.00.
